I heard the buffalo wings are a fun addition to the meal...the garlic twists too. Delicious!	Fall Break It's the time of year where families will be gathering for Thanksgiving. For some these will be big groups, for others it will be small, and for some it will still be a work day. The students will be off from school Nov. 21-25. Please support your children to have quiet reading time, write gratitude notes to friends and family, play outside, and take some time to talk with your child. I am so grateful to be working with all of you on behalf of your sweet children!

UELF Garden....Something Special

Did you know that UELF is the only school in our district with a garden committee and designated garden instructor? The Garden Committee meets monthly to discuss and strategize what work needs to be done to organically manage weeds, food management, and seasonal plantings, like winter coverage or plantings to bring in spring pollinators. The Committee volunteers time in the garden so it's student ready. Sandra Knoy, our garden teacher, is an active member of our education team. She works with the teachers to align classroom inquiries with garden experiences. She participates in professional development focusing on impactful instructional routines for garden learning. She also seeks out grants and partnerships to help fund the materials needed for the work students do in the garden. Your child is getting a unique and life changing experience with this learning environment. Please consider donating to the garden fund, $50, and joining a Garden Committee Meeting or work day.

UELF PTA Needs YOU!

UELF PTA is the voice of the families of UELF to support the vision and mission of Inquiry Based Learning through Project Based Learning. Our PTA gives every UELF educator $200 to spend on the students, maker supplies for school wide making events, sponsors school wide assemblies, purchases tools and resources for project-based learning for the Maker Space and the Book Room, and supports professional learning for the staff that deepens staff understanding of STEAM instruction. UELF PTA seeks to support UELF staff to ensure the unique and student-focused learning environment that we have.

The mission of our school is to establish, expand, and sustain an environment that is safe and enables every student to attain a high level of academic achievement as determined by state and national standards. Students are empowered to become active, curious, creative, and effective thinkers through hands-on experiential learning opportunities and project-based learning. Our school is committed to delivering a support system to assure these outcomes.

Signing up for the PTA shows your commitment to UELF to continue to grow as a STEAM PBL Magnet School. As our campus begins to open up and parents are invited to volunteer, the PTA will be the first group to hear the volunteer needs and be the organizer of getting parents in the volunteer placements where we need them most.
