Week of February 18, 2019
Thank You PTSA!
Dear Atholton Families,
A short message for a short week.
Happy President’s Day! Unfortunately, just as last week, we find ourselves in the path of inclement weather this week. Please stay tuned as decisions are made regarding after school activities tomorrow and school on Wednesday.
Last week, the Atholton staff was treated to a Chocolate Fest by the PTSA. On behalf of the entire staff, thank you to our wonderful parents for the decadent chocolate treats. It was very much appreciated and warmed the hearts of the entire staff!
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of February! Nevertheless, it is time to begin thinking about Spring sports! Please see the information below regarding meeting dates and requirements.
Have a fantastic week!
Warmly,
Robert A. Motley
Principal
Spring Sports
Tryouts for our spring sports teams are right around the corner and will begin on Friday, March 1st. Please see below for important information in regards to tryouts.
TEAM MEETINGS: All teams will be facilitating a tryout information meeting during Raider Time on FEBRUARY 20th. Students need to sign up!
SCHEDULE FOR TRYOUTS: Tryout Schedule for Spring Sports (see below)
TRYOUTS: Participants are expected to be at ALL tryouts. Practices will begin immediately after teams are selected. Please plan time accordingly. All participants MUST have all forms filled out prior to tryouts. Participants will not be allowed to tryout if paper work is missing or incomplete.
SPRING ATHLETIC FORMS: The HCPSS Office of Information Technology has developed a portal through HCPSS Connect Parent Access to submit ALL of your Spring Athletics Forms. Parents/guardians can now fill out required forms, upload physicals and proof of residency documents, and complete the eligibility process just by following this link: HCPSS Connect. This is a safe and secure way to sign up your child to participate in the upcoming 2019 Spring Athletics sports season.
Concussion baseline testing is no longer mandatory however, participants still need to fil out the concussion awareness form.
If you participate in a fall or winter sport, all you would need is a current utility bill and a parent permission form.
Questions can be directed to Mr. Senisi, Athletic and Activities Manager at michael_senisi@hcpss.org.
Leadership U -- Class of 2019
Are you thinking of college for your child? Let Leadership U help your current sophomore build the skills that will help them succeed! Leadership U can provide him or her a memorable week-long program of leadership development, networking, and community awareness. Beginning the end of July and continuing through the fall of their junior year with nine Sunday afternoon group meetings, LU will give your child the opportunity to build their network, strengthen their leadership skills, meet new students, and work on a community service project of their choice.
Come learn more and speak to some of our grads at one of our final information session: March 7 at Miller Library, both from 7-8pm.
Parents and students in both 9th and 10th grade are encouraged to attend. Additional information is available at http://www.leadershiphc.org/leadership-u-2/ or email Meg Ignacio mignacio@leadershiphc.org. Online applications are due March 14, 2019.
Raiders After Midnight: Post- Prom Information
"Raiders After Midnight" is open to all Juniors, Seniors, and their guests. Students do not have to attend Prom to attend Post Prom.
It takes a village to host the post prom party. We are seeking volunteers to contact local businesses to donate to this event. Volunteers report at 10 pm to set up. If anyone can help, please contact ptsa@atholtonptsa.org.
The PTSA also accepts donations from parents of all grades - pay it forward!
