Principal Arroyo's Message
Dear Hirsch Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Our Hirsch staff is so excited to welcome our students back to school on Wednesday, August 16th. We pride ourselves on building relationships with our students and their families and look forward to another year of working together. You are essential to the success of our Bulldog students!
As a reminder, please check your Infinite Campus Parent Portal for your student’s teacher and room number that was posted on August 11th. Class lists are not posted at school. https://fremontunifiedca.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/fremont.jsp
With the first day of in person school on Wednesday, 8/16, please note:
- One parent/guardian will be allowed to escort their child on campus for the first three days of school. Students must stay off playground equipment before school.
- Once your student’s teacher arrives, please wave goodbye and quickly exit the campus. Families should not follow the class to the door. Thank you in advance for following this for student safety.
- Beginning Monday, August 21st, families will need to wait outside the gate for students both before and after school.
- We encourage different grades to enter/exit through separate gates. Grades 1-3 use #1, Grade K use #2, and Grades 4-5 use #3.
- Families are unable to park in our school parking lot. We have designated spots for staff only.
- We highly encourage you to use our drive thru valet to drop off and pick up your student(s). Students must exit from the right passenger side when the car is along the blue Student Council benches. Adults should remain in their cars at all times with backpacks next to students and not in the trunk. Kinder students need to be walked to the gate and are unable to use the valet drop off. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read each newsletter in its entirety. We are looking forward to an exciting school year!

Our Hirsch Library contract will be coming home during the first week of school. This should be signed and returned so our Bulldogs can check out books to read and enjoy at home.
2023-2024 School Meals and Home Lunches
Student Meals are FREE for the school year 2023/24! All FUSD students will have access to 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch daily regardless of their family's economic need. Link to FUSD's breakfast and lunch menu.
Home lunches brought after your student has started school must be dropped off by 11 am to the cart outside the office. Your student's lunch should be clearly labeled with first name, last name, and room number.
Calling in Absences
Please contact the school's absence line, day or night, at 510-657-3537 and then press 7. Please be sure to state: 1)your student's first and last name, 2)student's classroom number, 3)reason for the absence, 4)your name and relationship to the student.
If these absences are not cleared by a parent guardian within 48 hours, they will be considered unexcused. Excessive absences and/or tardies, excused or unexcused, may result in a truancy warning.
Make-up work may be requested on the second consecutive day of a student's illness.
