The main theme in Much A Do About Nothing is the importance of Reputation. Everyone has a good or bad reputation and depending on that is how high you are held to other people. For example Don Pedro holds a high and good reputation making him very trust able while Baracio doesn't hold such a good reputation making him harder to trust. In the time period the play was first made honor and integrity was more important than anything else, people would die for honor. The song Bad Reputation says "Don't go tellin' 'em, tellin' 'em all the plans we've been makin' (No no no)" Don John doesn't want anyone to know his plants or they might be ruined but, in the end they are ruined because of Baracio's arrogance.
