April 13, National Letter of Intent Athlete Signing Ceremony, PHS Room C200, 4 PM. The college intentions of Steven Feher, Nolan Ridgway, and Mikayla Stoudt, student athletes at Parkland High School, will be announced as they sign their letter of intent and scholarship papers.

April 14 - Community Advisory Council, PHS Library, 6:15 PM. The public is cordially invited to attend the Community Advisory Council Meeting. The topic of the meeting will be “Results of the Feasibility Study/Full-Day Kindergarten” which will be presented by David Keppel, Director of School Services, Kelly Rosario, Director of Curriculum Instruction and Professional Development, and Diane Neikam, Supervisor of Elementary Curriculum.
April 15 - Deadline for Superintendent Parkland Pride Award Nominations
The Superintendent's Parkland Pride Award is a program that recognizes outstanding employee and volunteer achievements within Parkland School District. We invite you to tell us about a Parkland School District staff member or volunteer who has gone the extra mile this school year to make you proud to live in Parkland or be a part of the Parkland staff! Don't delay - nominations are due April 15, 2016. All nominations must be made online. Click here for more information and a nomination form.
April 16 - Annual GEO Club Electronics Recycling Event
The GEO Club will be running its annual Electronics Recycling Drive at the GER Facility at 795 Roble Road, Allentown, PA. The event runs from 9 AM - 12 PM. Most electronics are accepted although many do come with a fee as recyclers are no longer reimbursed by manufacturers. Below is the pricing for Freon appliances and televisions by size. Acceptable Freon appliances include: dorm size refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers. Miscellaneous items: small fee may apply. Please call ahead for questions regarding items we accept and pricing at 610-443-1776, you can also email crivera@gersolutions.net.

April 18 - Mad Tea Party, 10:15 AM, Parkland Auditorium Lobby. Parkland's Learning Support students have developed a special friendship with residents of Cedarbrook Nursing Home this year and will host a tea party for their new friends.
April 20, Drug Awareness Program for Parents, OMS Auditorium, 7 PM. What do you know about drugs and drug use by teens? What should you know? Do your kids know more than you do? Parkland parents are invited to join us for a presentation on Prescription Drugs, Synthetic Drugs (“K2”, “Bath Salts”, “Molly”, “Flakka”), and Illicit Drugs (Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana). Presented by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Parkland School District.
April 23, Parkland Community Resource Fair, Jordan Church, 11 AM - 2 PM.
A fun, family-friendly, community building event featuring the many services, programs, and volunteer opportunities available to those living in the Parkland area. Snacks, prizes, give-aways, and more. Click here for more information.

On Wednesday, March 30th over 1,000 students from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware competed in the 68th annual Delaware Valley Science Fair in Philadelphia. To compete at this level, students had to win a first place for middle school and a first or second place at the high school. Out of all the students, there is only one first, second and third place in each category. Parkland School District was well represented and won some prestigious awards along with special awards from businesses and organizations. For the complete list of winners, click here.
Congratulation to Parkway Manor student Marina Furst, whose poem was selected by the 11th annual Lehigh Valley Press Student Poetry Project adjudication committee as First Place recipient in the Elementary School division. The poem is to be published on the front page of the April 20 Focus section in the eight Lehigh Valley Press newspapers and web sites!

PHS Music Boosters are hosting a Giant Yard Sale at PHS on Sat, May 14th. Sellers are wanted to set up a $20 lot space or $5 table. You keep the profits. Contact Mariann Danko at 610-533-7503 for more info.
