Broncoville Fun!
A NOTE FROM DR. COFFMAN
Second, a few friendly reminders concerning the dress code:
- As of April 1, students may wear shorts!!! YAY for spring and summer!
- Shorts and dresses must be finger tip length or longer
- Boys hair should not extend over the collar of a shirt
- Students should be wearing athletic shoes everyday. All students participate in 30 minutes of PE and recess. It is difficult for them to run on the track and play in the wood chips in sandals or boots

4TH GRADE
We are beginning our countdown to STAAR. These next few weeks will be used to fill gaps, clear up confusion, and review all of the literary genres we've covered this year. We will take time to dive deep into our analysis of literary elements along with focusing on making connections and inferences about the text we are reading. Comprehension is key for mastery. Students need to be understanding what they are reading. By continuing pushing them to read independently, their comprehension will grow. Please check with your child to ensure they are reading at least 20 minutes every night! It is imperative for their growth as a student in all subjects!
Reminders...
- Please reach out to Mrs. Brown for immediate responses on dojo!
- Please make sure your child is reading every night. We have BIG AR Goals to reach this last 9 weeks.
- Please have your child here every day ready to work by 7:45. Their attendance is very important.
Thank you so much for all that you do! I've seen huge growth in every child this year and I am SO proud of all of their hard work 🙂

We have reached testing season. 🙂 Although it may not be the most fun thing to do, we, as teachers, gather invaluable data from all the 'practice' testing our students do. Please remind your children to always take their time and do their best.
4th Grade Math---We are doing a lot of review of difficult concepts---including fractions and decimals. Please continue reviewing basic math facts (including multiplication) with your children. We are stressing using strategies and using the inverse to make sure we check our answers. I have a few students rushing through and not using these strategies and it is showing. Please help me by stressing how important it is to practice these now so that it is second nature when we take the STAAR in May. 🙂
4th Grade Science--We are in the middle of our unit which covers things like ecosystems/biomes, food webs, and food chains. The students seem to enjoy this unit and have a pretty solid grasp of basic concepts. They sure do love to talk about animals. 🙂
5th Grade Science---We have looked at several biomes in depth. The students have learned some interesting things they didn't know before, such as deserts can be cold and certain animals' fur changes colors to help them blend in to certain surroundings. We have had some good discussions and I have had to field some VERY interesting questions....I'm learning things right along with my class. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your children with me,
Mrs. Brown 🙂
Hemos tenido algunas buenas discusiones y he tenido que responder algunas preguntas MUY interesantes... Estoy aprendiendo cosas junto con mi clase. 🙂 Gracias por compartir a tus hijos conmigo, Sra. Brown 🙂
5TH GRADE
We are moving and grooving in our ELAR class! We are doing our best and working very hard. We will begin all things STAAR prep next week as we review all the different genres that we've discussed over the last three quarters! Next week we will be taking a dive back into our love of fiction! We will be focusing on author's purpose, craft, and use of literary elements within our review of fiction. Following this week, we will look at each of the different genres in more detail before the STAAR test.
In Social Studies, we are moving right through the Twentieth Century and learning about the First World War and industrialization. This part of History is a fun part to look at. I'm excited to discuss this with the students more.
Some reminders:
- Please have your child read for a minimum 20 minutes per night. It has been proven, the more they read, the better they will do on things like the STAAR test and in all areas of school.
- Please be sure your child is attending school as much as possible! Every minute in class counts and we want each student to be at their best.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for sharing your kiddos with me! I look forward to seeing them every day!
Mrs. Rasco
Math
-We start to STAAR review on Tuesday. We need all students in class every day. We will not touch every concept every day. We will do one and move on to the next. This why it is important that we are here.
-I still have a few students that do not know their multiplication math facts. If your student needs flash cards to practice let me know. I can print some that they can cut out at home. Another thing that can be done is they can download a multiplication math facts game to their tablet, iPad, or cell phone.
-Thank you for your support.
