Week of 11/11/19
Veteran's Day
Today was originally established as Armistice Day, after the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918 that ended World War I. It wasn't until 1938 that the holiday became officially recognized, then in 1954 Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day to honor all Veterans of all wars. This day is one celebrated with respect, honor, and pride in recognizing all of those who have shown their patriotism and love for our country by being active in one of the military branches and serving the United States of America. In Canada, Great Britain, and Australia November 11th is known as "Remembrance Day", which is celebrated in similarity to our Memorial Day, honoring those who have lost their lives fighting for freedom.
We send out a colossal thank you to all those men and women who have served, and still are serving, in our armed forces to keep us safe and free!
