WNPS Library Reopening Plan
Goal: Getting books into the hands of all students!
Circulation and Scheduling
- Library visits are for checkout and returning books only (no lesson). Times will be scheduled though Calendly! We will have to ensure that we can clean the library between each class coming in. There will be a buffer of time built into Calendly for cleaning in order to maintain a safe environment. ***1st and 2nd grade, during this 30-minute block, you can bring your entire class or send 5 at a time for the 30 minute time. Kindergarten will come as a whole class only for now. I will reevaluate at the end of the 1st nine weeks.
- 1st and 2nd grade should try to schedule once a week and kindergarten once every two weeks. The scheduling window begins next Thursday August 27th and ends December 18th. Feel free to go in and book your time once a week or once every two weeks for kindergarten through December 18th.
- No open circulation
- No morning circulation
- Student book checkout limit has been increased to 5 books for 1st and 2nd grade and 3 books for Kindergarten
- Students will be directed to go to a designated spot in the library in order to social distance
- Students will check out their books and line up immediately on the spots designated on the floor.
BookHub and Curbside Library
- BookHub concierge book delivery will be available. You can schedule a time and we will come to you with a cart. Schedule a time through Calendly! (will open soon)
- Tuesday Afternoons @ the WNPS Library will transition to curbside library for our brick and mortar students as well as our remote students! Parents can reserve books online and pick them up during this window. Date and time announced soon!
Safety
- Face coverings must be worn
- Upon entering the room, each adult and student will get a squirt of hand sanitizer or be asked to wash their hands.
- Classes (or partial classes) will visit the library in staggered intervals, allowing ample time to sanitize heavily touched surfaces.
- We will practice social distancing the best that we can.
- Students will be reminded to keep a safe distance from each other as they browse for books.
- Students will be reminded to only touch books they want to borrow.
- Returned books will be quarantined for 4 days before returning to the shelf ensuring that they are safe to use.
- Students will check out their books and line up immediately on the spots designated on the floor.
Lessons and ITV
- Lessons, including orientation will be virtual or on demand in Classlink
- I will be working to find new ways to have lessons but right now the priority is getting books into the hands of the kids!
- We will still have ITV with social distancing in mind
FAQ
Do I bring my whole class or just send the kids that need to come?
Kindergarten, yes bring the whole class. 1st and 2nd grade, either. 1st and 2nd grade, you may also send 5 at a time for the 30-minute time block in lieu of bringing the entire class. Please stick to the 30-minute time frame so that we can sanitize after your class is done! (1st and 2nd grade, you should plan on coming as a class at least the first visit)
Do I have to stay?
Initially, yes. I will need your help getting them in, hand sanitized and to help ensure social distancing during the time that the class is here. Note, hand sanitizing must be done in the library and not before you come, per county guidelines. I hope and expect that after a couple visits that you will be able to drop them off in the case that you are bringing the whole class.
Can I book more than once a week or once every two weeks?
If you notice the day before or the morning of that there is an open spot in Calendly, you may book it but please don't book more than once a week 1st or 2nd grade or once every two weeks for kindergarten in advance. Since the calendar goes 60 days out, you may book all of your visits for the 60 days in advance and grab any extra last minute ones that you need to the morning of or day before. Note: It is a rolling 60 days meaning that as days pass, more days will be added to the end.
Where do I find Calendly?
It is called "Library Scheduling" in your Classlink and it is also below my signature line in emails.
What about Lego Lab and the Computer Lab?
They are closed right now until we get the go ahead on sharing supplies and manipulative materials.
How long will we be under this library plan?
Until further notice. We could go into the red phase and have to lock things back down or into the green phase and be able to go back to more normal procedures. I am personally planning on through December.
