Office Newsletter - Week of December 2nd Edition
Hey Team -
Well, it's officially December which means a few things:
1. The holiday season is in full speed
2. The weather is not warm
3. Agents tend to take their foot of the gas
I know you're in disbelief and probably thinking I'm nuts, but after years of interactions with agents, I will stand behind #1-3 !!
I realize I'm making a generalization and I can assure you, #3 is not limited to just our industry. The holiday season is a notorious productivity killer for everyone except retail.
However, December can be a great opportunity to ensure the next year begins at full speed. By focusing on business planning, marketing, prospecting, past client communication, and a general spreading of cheer - you will be amazed by the outcome. In fact, I will go as far as saying - "it could change the entire direction of your year!"
To assist with the motivation component, as in years past, we typically host a fun-based gathering over the holiday's. Last year we converted our office into an incredible casino and bar.
This year, we thought of a new idea. To ensure agents keep their foot on the "gas" and begin the new year at "full speed," I thought we would take everyone to the track. No, not the horses or dogs - the car racing track.
On January 10th, I'm inviting all staff, agents, and their partners, to join me for our New Year's Kickoff Party at The Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, for a night of racing, competition, chow, friendship, and hopefully a ton of laughs!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and in the event I don't see you prior, I hope the remainder of your holiday season is filled with love and laughter.
You're an amazing group of people who make coming to work everyday a true joy!
Now, focus hard for the next 30 days and begin to set the pace for a strong 2020!
Yours truly,
Dave

ANALYSIS: There are certain factors that must be considered when determining if the homeowner violated the law when installing cameras into her home to conduct surveillance on a showing. The first consideration is: Where did the recording take place? Every state has different laws as it pertains to recording someone without his or her knowledge and each state’s law is different as to what is or is not permitted.
What the homeowner is recording is also key. Does the camera in the home merely record video or is audio recorded by the camera or surveillance equipment as well? If the camera is merely recording video, the homeowner is subject to less stringent requirements. Video cameras should not be placed in any locations where an individual could be recorded fully or partially nude (i.e. a bathroom), but otherwise if a homeowner is solely recording video in their own home, they are generally permitted to engage in such an act.

Thought of the week:
You are creating the steps for a great 2020 right now!
Who Are You?
Are you who you think you are? Are you who other people think you are? Are you basically the compilation of the five people you spend the most time with?
The answer to all of those questions is yes....sort of. I say “sort of” because you’re likely not exactly who you think you are. You’re also almost certainly not who other people think you are although they might be closer to the real you than you want to admit.
You are definitely influenced by the handful of people you spend the majority of your time with. You likely think and act a lot like them. You believe much the same as they do and you’re most comfortable being “real” when you’re with them.
So the better question is are you who you want to be?
Think of the people you know well that you respect and admire the most. These are not people you read about in the news or see in the movies. These are people you actually know. You know their good side and their not so good side. What are the qualities and characteristics they possess that cause you to admire them?
Think hard, invest some time in this. What is it really that sets them apart from the crowd?
How close are you to possessing these same qualities and characteristics. Notice there is no question mark at the end of that sentence. That’s because it’s not a question for you. It’s a question that you should be asking other people. It’s a question that you should be asking, on a regular basis, your coach or mentor.
The reason I’m not suggesting that you ask yourself is that if you’re like most people you won’t be completely honest with yourself. You’ll cut yourself too much slack and provide yourself with excuses you wouldn’t give anyone else. That’s nice to do for yourself but it isn’t helpful if your goal is to better yourself.
Once you have some sincere and honest input from people who know you well then you can decide if the you they see is the you that you want to be. There are a lot of “yous” in that sentence but this post is after all about you.
You’ll likely hear about a few shortcomings but that’s okay. Nobody’s perfect, not even the people you admire the most. You have to decide if the good qualities and characteristics you possess outweigh those shortcomings. If you have a weakness that you think is holding you back then you know what to work on.
I’m okay with being imperfect. I’m okay with not being liked by everyone. I’m okay with not being understood by everyone. I’m even okay with some people thinking I’m downright stupid.
Sometimes I disappoint people, sometimes I disappoint myself. I could make a pretty strong case that if you’re never disappointed with yourself, either with something you’ve said or done, then you’ve set your expectations for yourself way too low.
But that doesn’t make you a bad person and it certainly doesn’t make you a failure. It makes you human. And you are everything that comes with that, good and bad. That is who you really are!

Using Emotional Marketing to Make an Impact
Leads are everything in real estate, and there’s no one “right” way to get them. When it comes to snagging more leads and growing your online audience, many top agents look to emotional marketing. Emotional marketing points to the power of inspiring human emotion to drive clicks, shares and sales.
Below are three simple ways to leverage emotion in your marketing campaign and reign in more leads.
Have humor. If meme culture has taught us anything, it’s that we love a quick, simple joke. Brainstorm more humorous marketing angles so that your content is too good not to share.
Tug at heartstrings. Heading right to the heart is an excellent way to have an impact, and it doesn’t need to be sad to be effective. Tug at heartstrings using the power and importance of family, or, when in doubt, throw a cute puppy or kitten in your ad and watch your click rates soar.
Target your audience. A great way to use emotional marketing is to get hyper-targeted with your audience. For instance, find pet owners and appeal to them by boasting a listing’s incredible fenced-in yard, or if you have a listing in an excellent school district, target parents in surrounding areas. Luckily, it’s easier and easier to target specific audiences these days, so you can get as niche as you’d like.
