Scott Fall Festival
Fall Festival Costume Parade and Party: Friday, October 29th
We are happy to announce that Scott School will hold a Fall Festival for students on the afternoon of Friday, October 29th.
Costumes
Students are invited to bring costumes to change into after lunch. Participation in the parade and/or wearing a costume is optional. Students who choose not to dress in costume are encouraged to wear Scott School Spirit wear or white and blue.
Parents should consider the following when choosing costumes for their students:
· Costumes should be easy enough for the child to put on themselves in the classroom easily over clothes.
· Keep in mind that we have young, Early Childhood students in the building. We are strongly encouraging positive costumes such as literary figures, positive role models, and future careers. Scary and frightening costumes are discouraged. Costumes with blood or gore will not be allowed. Weapon replicas of any sort are not allowed.
Classroom Party and Parade
Home & School volunteers will host parties in the classrooms beginning at 1:30 pm. As a reminder, food is never served at classroom parties.
At 2:00 pm, weather permitting, students will exit Door 1 at and will walk in a parade route around the school for families to view. All students will enter back into the building to gather their belongings and be dismissed at 2:30 pm as usual.
In the event of inclement weather the classroom parties will go on, but the parade will be canceled.
Dinner (or lunch) Night Out: Little Pops Pizzeria
Come out and support a New York-native Mom & Pop-run, locally-owned restaurant and Scott School at the same time. Carry out, or have your meal(s) delivered from Little Pops Pizzeria ALL DAY on Thursday, October 28th. Little Pops has graciously agreed to give back 20% of our total sales. Fall Book Fair - THANK YOU!
Thank you to all who supported our book fair and attended Anderson’s. We had representatives from every class on the sign in sheet! We had a tie for the winning class. Both Ms. Eberly’s class and Ms. Fitzpatrick’s classes will be winning the prize of Mr. Boger reading to them during their LC time.
Yearbook Committee: Scott School’s Yearbook needs YOU and your amazing pictures!
The yearbook committee has started setting up the 2021-2022 Scott School yearbook. Orders will not be collected until January, but coming in November is our annual yearbook cover contest!
We have 300+ families that we would love to feature in the yearbook...we are in need of first day of school photos, photos from the Block Party and pictures from last week’s National Walk to School Day.
Two ways to share:
- Download the Image Share app and create a free account (project number: 216636; passcode: Eagle). Your images are immediately shared into our software.
- Attach images to email and send to yearbook@scotthomeandschool.com and we will transfer to the software.
Market Day
Scott Home & School loves its partnership with Market Day! Your orders will be delivered right to your front door, and Scott Home & School will receive 10% of each purchase year-round! Please go to www.marketdaylocal.com to register and make sure you pick our school, Scott Elementary School, so we receive credit. You can invite family and friends to register as well; the more the merrier. Please contact Melissa Vasich (vp@scotthomeandschool.com) with any questions.
District 203 E-learning Plan
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Last week you received an email from Naperville 203 regarding the approval of the district’s e-Learning plan. E-Learning will provide our students with a continuation of learning on days when we are unable to open its school buildings. Students will receive at least five hours of asynchronous instruction or school work through their Canvas accounts.
Support From Teachers
Staff members are available from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to respond to students' needs. Teachers will not provide live streaming/concurrent instruction or synchronous learning. Instead, students will be given assignments aligned to current learning progression and goals.
Communication methods may include: Email, Canvas and/or Zoom, among others
Teachers will check on the completion of necessary e-Learning assignments
Teachers will provide students with extended time, as needed
Attendance
The State of Illinois recognizes e-Learning days as regular attendance days, thus they will not need to be made up. Naperville 203 will use e-Learning days in lieu of emergency days, which were previously used for emergency school closings.
Parents should follow the same absent attendance process as regular school day.
Call the school if your student is sick and unable to participate in the e-Learning day
Students will be considered present unless excused by parent/guardian
All absences should be called in by 9 a.m.
Tech Support
In preparation for the possibility of an E-Learning day, students should bring their computers and other technology tools home each day. For all tech support please click HERE.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued support.
