The Trailblazer
Mill Creek Elementary....Blazing a new trail!
Book Reviews by: Mary Einhorn
I have read some books that really interested me. Here are what I think.
1st Book: Scat
I rate it 4 stars because while the story is intriguing and full of details, the language can be a bit foul. I recommend this book to some older kids that like to solve mysteries. You can find it in the school library in the fiction section.
2nd Book: Fever 1793
I rate it 4 1/2 stars because it is historical fiction, it is not going to be everyone's favorite book. I recommend it to 5th or 6th graders that can really focus on a book. This book is in the school library, but I am not that sure where you would find it.
3rd Book: Junie B. Jones
I rate these books 5 stars because they are interesting and fun. I recommend the series to little kids that love to imagine and go a little crazy. The Junie B. Jones series is in the school library's fiction section.
Camp McDowell by Jayden Apticar
During our 3 day overnight stay we enjoyed our time with lots of activities with friends and parents. It was an excellent way for kids to go outside and see spectacular things. We had different classes in which instructors thought us various and amazing things about Mother Nature. In the Pond and Stream class, we tried to have a collection of bugs that lived in the water; we actually went into the water to collect them with bowls. The group that I was assigned to mostly got hold of small craw fishes. We learned how Native Americans lived in the in the Native American and Earth class. I took a picture of a model of a Native American hut. We also saw a trading table on display, showing us how Native Americans would trade their things, since money was not yet invented. Out of all the activities we had, canoeing was the most exciting fun for all the kids. One group actually raced to see who was the fastest. Some of us got a little wet at times but everybody had a good time. Camp Mc Dowell was awesome and enjoyment for everyone; young and old!!!

LMS Walk and Talk by Brennan Persing
Don't worry. I'll tell you what you missed. When Mr. Nelson (the principal of Liberty) came to Mill Creek, the 6th graders:
-Learned about schedules
-Learned about LMS electives
-Received a yellow form and catalog
-Found out about sports tryouts at Liberty
-And last BUT NOT LEAST...a QUIZ!
When the 6th graders went to Liberty on Thursday, May 1, the 6th graders:
-Took a tour of the middle school
-Saw the gym, cafeteria, and your average Liberty classroom
-Talked about the optional school trips to Dauphin Island, AL & Washington, D.C.
Now you know. Be sure to discuss this with your parents!

Drama Party by Brennan Persing
The Maverick Masqueraders celebrated the excellent work they did in the Snow White play by having a pizza party. It was on Wednesday, May 7. For food, they had, well of course, pizza and apple juice! Then everybody told about their favorite part of doing the play. Everybody talked with their friends and had a good time. If you want to go to a fun party like this, then join the Maverick Masqueraders!
