Yearbook Wins All Kansas Rating
Congratulations to the 2022 editors Kaylyn Sharp and Trista Davis as well as the other staff members who worked many hours and late nights to complete the book.
The best part is many of last year’s staff are still here working on the new yearbook, and it’s looking better than last year’s. Kaylyn Sharp and Alyssa Hannigan are the editors this year.

TPS Weather Notifications
As the weather begins to cool, we want to remind families and staff of school closing notification procedures.
As we make decisions about closing school, a number of factors come into play, including the safety of travel but also the safety of students who will be home during the day.
Should school be canceled, we will:
- Send a text, email, and/or phone call via SchoolMessenger
- Update the district social media pages
- Update the district website
- Contact our local media partners

Topeka Metro Offers New Service
The Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority announces plans to launch a microtransit service for the southeast part of Topeka, starting in January 2023. The on-demand service, named MOD (Metro On-Demand), will allow customers to request curb-to-curb transportation within specific service areas. In addition, passengers will be able to request rides that would arrive within 15 minutes, which is similar to ride share services.
“As we continue to look for new ways to improve, we believe the more personalized nature of microtransit will be a great addition to our service," said Bob Nugent, Topeka Metro general manager. "Microtransit has been around for a while and has proven to be a more expedient and cost-effective way for folks to travel to where they need to go."
Passengers can access residential and commercial locations, or even connect with a fixed route bus for travel outside the defined zones. Hours of MOD operation will be Monday through Friday from 5:35 a.m. to 6:40 p.m., and Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:40 p.m. Fees for this shared ride program will be $2 for a one-way ride. Reduced Fare and youth pricing options are available.
Topeka Metro will host a series of public meetings beginning November 30th into December 2022 to explain how MOD will operate and to answer questions. Please click on the link to access the public meeting notice in English. A Spanish version is available here.
A flyer explaining the service in English and Spanish can be found at this link.
District Surveys Coming Soon
We Want to Hear from our Parents and Students!
THS Parents,
Please be sure to complete the parent permission E forms in Tyler SIS regarding our annual surveys. The feedback we receive from parents and students help us make improvements to our educational program! We appreciate your particpation in theses important surveys!
In December the district climate survey comes out for parents, students and staff. This survey allows for all stakeholders to give input regarding our educational environment and programing. Please complete the parent permission E form in Tyler SIS so the survey can be given to students in December.
Community In Schools Survey for 10th and 12th Graders:
Topeka Public Schools has partnered with the KS Dept for Aging and Disability, Behavioral Health and Greenbush to survey 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students in Kansas. This anonymous survey helps schools develop strategies to combat risky behaviors of today's youth.
If you agree to allow your student to take this survey, please sign the consent form on your student's Tyler SIS page. It will look like an e-form similar to what you signed when registering at the beginning of the year. The questions can be found on the district website: CTC Survey
We appreciate your consideration for these two important surveys!
