Back to School Newsletter
August Edition
Principal Post
Dear Glenn Families,
Welcome back to school! I know I had to ask myself where the summer went. The teachers and staff have worked hard to get Glenn ready for students. The building has been scrubbed and cleaned thanks to Mr. Keller and Mr. Tuchel. The teachers have decorated and made the classrooms so inviting.
The Neighborhood Bus Tour was a success hopefully we can catch even more next year. If you have questions throughout the year, please do not hesitate to reach out. (309) 557-4418.
Looking ahead Parent Teacher Conferences are October 25th. Be watching for sign ups to come home soon. If you would like to learn more before this date about how your child is doing in class, please reach out to your child's teacher.
We are looking forward to a great year!

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)
Here is a link to the terminology and supports that can be given at home. Thanks for supporting the Glenn PBIS efforts! You can also find the behavior expectations on our school website. Students are taught these during the first few days of school. Please take a minute to review these with your child. You will find them under the Students and Parents Tab. Thank You.

State Farm Grants
State Farm also has a matching donation program. The Glenn PTO and Glenn teachers are eligible! Any donations made in the 2019 calendar year are now eligible. So any "Unraiser" donations to PTO of $25 or more would be matched by State Farm. The Glenn teachers have posted wanted materials at donerschoose.com.
!Breakfast!
Did you know that we serve breakfast every morning at Glenn from 7:25-7:40 am? The cost for breakfast is deducted off of your child's (breakfast/lunch) account. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch your child will also receive free or reduced price breakfast. If you prefer to send a small breakfast item with your child, that can also be eaten in the cafeteria.
Please talk with your child about whether they have your permission to purchase breakfast.
~Beyond the Day Opportunities~
Our Glenn vision is to provide students with a variety of leaning experiences that will enable them to develop into responsible citizens and life-long learners. There will be a variety of opportunities for students to practice and grow their love of learning while being a great citizen. Be watching for these opportunities soon Student Council, Running Club, Nature Club, STEAM Club, Chess Club and other opportunities. Help your child to find opportunities to take full advantage of these extras as they grow into the adult they are going to be one day!
School Pictures
School Pictures are Tuesday, August 20, 2019! Picture retakes and new students will be completed in September. Yearbooks will be sold later this winter and delivered in May. Flyers will be sent home and announcements will be made each day.
*Volunteering*

Glenn PTO Happenings
The "Unraiser" information will be sent through School Messager in addition to the paper form. The PTO appreciates how families give through the "Unraiser" to help the school.
Classroom party volunteer sign-ups will be sent through Sign Up Genius. There are a variety of ways to help at these parties. Party dates are 12/19/2019 and 2/14/2020.
PTO Collects BoxTops and has made additional monies to give back to the school. Start clipping now. BoxTops even allows you to submit online. Check it out!
