A Few Updates:
- Special Person's Night: I will be checking in with all parent volunteers about our expectations for kids "showing off" their classrooms to their Special Person at this fun event. I will also send the following message to our parents on Wednesday PM, in anticipation of the event: "Feel free to show your Special Person around the school and to show off your classroom! Please remember to LOOK but not to TOUCH classroom materials, as we have kids and teachers arriving bright-and-early on Friday and so we need our classrooms ready to go. Thank you for helping us keep our spaces clean, organized, and ready for learning!"
- Parent Teacher Conferences DESK COVERAGE: we're going rogue this year and trying something different; we will NOT have anyone stationed in the front office during PTC. I have let parents know about this through my updates; they know that they need to know where they're going and when, and how to reach you if they have a phone conference scheduled.
- On-Cycle Evaluation OBSERVATIONS: if you are on-cycle for evaluation, please reach out to me to schedule your first round of formal observations. These need to be completed by Winter Break(ish), and we know that the time will fly as we come back from Thanksgiving!
Library/Lab Renovation: UPDATES
Packing Logistics:
- We will be packed up and moved out of the Library/Lab space by Tues. 11/26 when we leave from PTC. Construction crews will start on Weds., 11/27!!! (If you'd like further details about the logistics of packing/moving/storage, reach out -- not going to bore you ALL with the details, but those who need to know should already be up to speed)
- We will lose the first 3x parking spots closest to the library/parking lot door (Ashley's space, Liz/Katie's space, Kristin's space) for the duration. We will need these to be unoccupied starting the Monday of PTC. We'll go with a "first-come, first-served" approach on this one... so don't be surprised if the parking lot gets a bit chaotic. We will regain the space where the white D101 truck is currently parked, and I'll take one for the team and park far, far, FAR away to keep out of the chaos... so it's really only one spot lost!
Construction Logistics:
- The doors to the library (by our 2nd grade doors exterior doors) will be CLOSED throughout construction. NO crews/laborers will pass through the building; they will exclusively use the parking lot door (#3). All workers will be background checked, and the foreman will have a key to that back door for ease of entry.
- No deliveries will be scheduled from 8:15-8:45, 11:30-12:30, or 3:30-4pm, so the only "traffic" by that parking lot door (where our kids pass through to/from school and at lunch) will be "people traffic". They will know to open that door VERY CAUTIOUSLY, and we'll need to advise our kids to be cautious of the door as they pass by!
Where to Find Things and People:
- The copier in the Lab will be (temporarily) relocated to the Band room.
- The Chromebook Cart will be (temporarily) relocated to the 5th grade intervention/middle room.
- The Spanish Carts will be (temporarily) relocated to vestibule under the stairs, when Nicole/Amy aren't using them.
- Courtney/Vickie will have carts, which will be (temporarily) relocated to vestibule under the stairs. They will use the 5th grade intervention room/hallway flex space when they are not actively with classes.
What to Anticipate in the New Space:
- We will ask for staff and kids to help weigh in as we determine what to call this new space... details TBD!
- Talk to Vickie and Courtney for a full idea of the scope of the project, and what will be possible moving forward!
- We've been approved for a new ProWise Board in each space, and a full set of new furnishings for the Lab. The Library will have a few new pieces to make a "coffee shop" setup and make great use of available space.
- The Spanish Office will get a re-do, with a vast reduction in storage/clutter and a new setup of office furnishings/collaborative space!

Shout Outs!!!!
A few, of MANY:
- Shout out to the 5th grade team for a very productive day Wednesday. It is no easy feat to leave the classroom at this time of year (especially with everything that is going on this year in particular!), but the high levels of work and positive attitudes were amazing! Thank you for all you do! - Emily Stropes
- Thanks to Emily and Vickie for joining me at the Elena Aguilar conference on Tuesday; if you need tips for cultivating resilience for yourself (and your kids), hit them up!
- Thanks to Tara, Denise, and Ryan for helping to create a beautiful banner to represent our Field Park staff and students in the annual Veteran's Day Assembly - it looked fab!
- Thanks to Terri Calhoun and Sue Quigley for being super-duper fast in scooping up a friend this week; gold medals to you both!
- Thanks to Julie Johnson for pulling an "ultimate Mom" move and catching flying puke... no words for this one, but THANK YOU!
- Thanks to Julie McGann for all the millions of small ways you keep our special friend (and friends!) in 2F moving and grooving!
- A shout-out to Jen, Terry, and Cindy for diving right in to support their sick colleague and keep our 1st grade flowing smoothly!
- Another shout-out to Erin for coming to school, even with the plague, to show up at a friend's IEP meeting - that's some serious dedication!
