Welcome, Officer Brown!

Officer Brown is Midlothian ISD's newest SRO! He serves Mt. Peak, Irvin, and Miller Elementary, and we are excited to have him on campus.

Reminder - Personal Electronic Devices

From the Elementary Handbook (p. 38):

For safety purposes, the district permits students to possess personal mobile telephones; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes.

If a student uses a telecommunication device without authorization during the school day, the device will be confiscated. The student or parent may pick up the confiscated telecommunications device from the front office.

MP3 players, video or audio recorders, DVD players, cameras, games, e-readers, or other electronic devices at school are not allowed without prior permission.

Telecommunication devices include but are not limited to cell phones and smart watches.

Gifted and Talented Information

Gifted and Talented Referrals for Spring 2019

Midlothian ISD provides a program for students in K-12 who have been identified as exceptionally able. The Gifted and Talented Program at all levels is designed to provide opportunities to meet unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students. Referrals for the Gifted and Talented Program may be made by parents, teachers, students, counselors, or community members. Students may be referred each year, but prior testing data may be considered valid for 2 years.

Referral Windows for Spring 2019 Grades 1-5

The referral window for grades 1-5 will be accepted from March 18, 2019 through March 29, 2019, with testing being conducted in April and May. Parents of 1st-5th grade students identified as Gifted and Talented will be notified in writing by May 30, 2019 in the final report card.

Parents may request a referral packet by contacting your child’s teacher or school counselor. If you have questions regarding referral or testing for the GT program, please contact your child’s counselor.
