Message From the Principal
Dear Stafford Families,
As you fully recognize, this year will be like no other! As a district, we will be using the first week of school as a "soft start" to acclimate our students to the idea of online learning and the changes we have put in place from last year. Most importantly, we will be using this time for connecting with students and families. You will be receiving an invitation from our team for individual 'Virtual Home Visits'. This will be a fantastic way for you and your children to get to know your new teacher(s). During the daily morning meeting, the focus will be on community building activities and "getting to know you" opportunities in an effort to establish a culture of care and belonging.
Over the next two weeks students will also be introduced to the various online tools, protocols, and systems designed to help them to feel prepared to access their learning. We will officially launch into the A/B schedule on September 14th (please see calendar details below). HERE is a document with answers to frequently asked questions. I will be updating this as new items arise.
We can't wait to start school next week. Thank you for being strong partners in this exciting and challenging endeavor. We are grateful for you!
Warmest regards,
Sara
School Supplies
Please save the date for September 11th to pick up your distance learning toolkit for your child. This will be a wonderful chance to meet your child’s teacher, even if at a distance. Here are the times:
12:00-12:50 - Last name starting with A-I
12:50-1:40 - Last name starting with J-R
1:40-2:30 - Last name starting with S-Z
Included in the toolkits will be items such as whiteboards, clipboards, journals, books, and other needed materials. We will be holding these toolkit pickup times with more frequency throughout the fall to make sure our students have what they need. If you are unable to pick up your toolkit on the 11th, you are welcome to swing by Stafford to pick it up at another time. Our front office is still under construction, so please call the number on the front door and we will come to greet you.
Our teachers have also developed school supply lists for suggested items to collect at home. Please click on the link below to find those. If you need support gathering supplies, please reach out to Megan Prior (priorm@wlwv.k12.or.us). We are happy to help!
ALL families (Online & CDL) must complete Online Registration (OLR) — Transition to ParentVue/StudentVue
If you haven't already, we ask that all families complete Online Registration for the coming school year. For returning students, this is a relatively simple process that primarily consists of confirming certain student information. This helps our schools better know our students as we get ready for the 2020-21 school year.
To complete Online Registration, parent-guardians are asked to go to https://synergy.wlwv.k12.or.us/PXP2_OEN_Login.aspx. Your username is the same as you used for FamilyLink. You will need to set a new password. To do so, click the “Forgot or Need to Set Password” button on the login page.
We have moved to a new student information system and ask that you review your data closely.
If you are new to the district and need to register your student for the school year, please select “New to District – Click Here” on the login page.
If you have registered, you will notice that the district has transitioned from FamilyLink to ParentVue; a new parent portal for accessing student information. You will need to have completed Online Registration in order to access the new Parent Portal.
To learn about how to get signed into ParentVue, please read the step-by-step directions in the following document or watch this "how to" video created by Wilsonville High Principal Kelly Schmidt: https://youtu.be/RcknLlAg15E.
ParentVue information includes student email information.
Important for Tuesday!
Teachers are reaching out to families with emails introducing themselves, sharing details of our soft start next week, and links for virtual home visits and first class meetings. We know these first days of school will have certain challenges and we are here to help. Theses are some priorities for next week:
Practice Logging in to the Google Account
Before the first day of school, we encourage students and parent-guardians to login to student Google accounts. To log-in, students use their school email address (i.e. DoeJ@stafps.wlwv.k12.or.us) as their username. The password is a capital P + their student ID (ex. P123123). For our younger students and new students, teachers will help support this process during the first days of school. If your child is in kindergarten or new to Stafford, their Google account will be activated when we receive the Google permission form. HERE is a link to the form. You can return it to our office or call and give your verbal permission. ALL students will benefit from this practice, even those who had accounts last year. Dusting off the summer cobwebs will ensure it is smooth for everyone. Thank you!
Can’t Find your Child’s Google Account Info?
Here are two solutions:
If your child's Google account has been activated, you should have received the username and password on a sticker in the placement letter we mailed. You can also find account information through the ParentVue system. Once your account is activated (see details above), there is a login icon on the top right corner of our school website. Once logged in, you can locate your child’s district provided email address, which will be the Google account username. For new students to our school, their default password will be the letter P and their individual 6 digit permanent id. For students returning to our school, it may be possible they have changed their password from this default.
Another option is to simply call our school. While we want all of our parents to become fluent with ParentVue, this is an option if you find yourself struggling with logging in.
2. Practice Logging in to your Child’s Email Account:
My kindergartener has an email account? Yes, all K-5 Stafford students do! The classroom meeting Zoom link you need for Tuesday will be sent to parent and student emails since Google Classrooms won't be fully in place quite yet. The first step is to log in to Google using your child's email and password as outlined above. Once there you will see a 9 square, waffle-like shape at the top right corner. If you click the waffle, all of the Google apps will appear and you can click on the Gmail icon. Please try accessing this before Tuesday; we are happy to find ways to help to support access to the technology.
Technology Support
Please log on to the device to make sure everything is working properly before September 8th.
If you have trouble that you believe is related to your child’s account, please feel free to get help here.

NEW THIS YEAR, families will need to order meals ahead of time ONLINE through the Nutrition Services website.
