Primary - Year Six

Curriculum & Year Group Overview 2022-23

Principal's Welcome

It is always exciting to move up to the next year group or for some of you to start a new school. The first few weeks will always focus on settling into the environment and the new procedures and expectations for the class. A heavy focus on well-being and getting to know each other is always planned. All class teachers will carry out some informal teacher observations and assessments in order to work on the first set of targets for each child.

The most important thing is that after the long summer holiday your children get back into routine and are excited and happy in their new class. New topics will be introduced and our homework of reading, mental maths and short tasks will begin in the 2nd week. We are always approachable and we will have our first parents' meetings at the end of September. However, if anything crops up before this please let us know. We are all looking forward to an exciting year ahead, especially with the addition of lots of new staff and some fantastic additions to our facilities.

Mrs Rachael Wilding

Principal

Head of Primary Stage

Hello and welcome to Primary!

I am delighted to be part of the leadership team at SVS as Head of Primary. Our school is small and welcoming and has a wonderful community feel. Therefore, we can nurture and care for every individual child allowing them to reach their full potential.

We believe in the importance of building a community that brings together students, teachers and parents to create respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. We want to ensure all our children believe in themselves and always aspire to be the best they can be. This will foster an environment for them to want to learn so they can go on to achieve their dreams and goals.

Please feel that you can reach out to me at any time with any questions or queries that you might have regarding your child or if you require information on certain areas of the curriculum.

I look forward to welcoming you to a new academic year and working closely with you and your children.

Miss Sarah Macaskill
