WHEN SHOULD YOUR STUDENT GO TO BED?
This chart can help you determine when your student should go to bed depending on their age and what time they get up in the morning.
Being well rested allows your student to come to school ready to learn!
ZONES OF REGULATION
This is our “zones” poster. We use the Zones of Regulation to help our students identify their emotions and learn ways to get back to the green zone. When we are in the green zone we are able to listen, problem solve, and learn. These things are difficult when we are in the other zones.
A great way to start incorporating the zones at home is to have your child identify what zone characters in books, in movies, or on TV are in and discuss why they think the character is in that zone. Then brainstorm together ways the character could get themselves back in the green zone.
You can also help your child identify which zone they are in by asking them throughout the day, "What zone are you in right now? How can you tell?". It is a good idea to do this when they are in all the zones. If they are not in the green zone you may need to prompt them more, "It looks like you're in the yellow zone, you are running around and making silly noises. Remember to get back to green you can get a drink of water and take deep breaths." By identifying what you see and reminding them of the calming strategies they will begin to internalize this information.
