How Can YOU Protect Your Child from Cyberbullying?
According to Stopbyllying.gov, “Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.”
The BEST way to prevent cyberbullying is to monitor all your child’s devices and all online presence. Set up clear guidelines for the privilege of deice usage and discuss expectations of online behavior. Require that you have access to their accounts and check them regularly. One easy way to do this is to have all devices in one place to charge overnight. This also prevents internet usage overnight, which many students admit to doing after parents go to sleep.
Look for warning signs that your child is either being cyberbullied or is cyberbullying others. These signs include an increase of device usage, strong emotional responses to what is happening on their device, hiding the screen or device when others are near, new social media accounts or deleting of accounts. If you find evidence of cyberbullying keep documentation, such as screen shots, and report it immediately to the app or social media platform. If there are personal threats, you can also report to your local police. If the cyberbullying occurs on a school provided device, report the incidents to the school via teacher and/or school counselor.

Love Pops Out All Over at Tiffany Ridge!!
Tiffany Ridge Students! For our spring service project let’s help our local Ronald McDonald House by collecting pop-tabs during the month of May!! Please collect your tabs and bring them to TR and deposit them in the front hallway. Let’ see how much TR students and families can raise to help kids and families in KC!
Due to funding from a federal program, we were able to supply free meals to all children ages 18 and under for the past two years. That program is ending on the last day of school. After the last day of school, we can no longer provide universal free meals or bulk frozen meal kits.
This means students attending summer school will need to pay for breakfast and lunch, or they can bring their own food. Families who think they might qualify for free and reduced meals should apply for these benefits. If you applied for the 2021-2022 school year, you do not need to reapply for summer school, and you can check with our social worker, Gayle Laney, or our Nutrition Services department if you are unsure.
The application for the 2021-2022 school year and 2022 summer school will extend to the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year, and then eligible families will need to reapply to receive the meal benefits for the remainder of the upcoming school year.
If your child is eligible for free and reduced meal benefits and you apply, you can also receive additional benefits like fee waivers, activity scholarships, free screenings, school supplies and more. You can find more information on our website: https://www.parkhill.k12.mo.us/families/menus-and-nutrition/free-and-reduced-meals
