Cardinal Family Newsletter
It's A Great Day to Be a Cardinal!
April 27- May 1
Dear FFMS Students, Parents and Guardians:
I hope that you are finding yourselves happy, healthy, and in good spirits and company! This week has definitely been a whirlwind of emotions not only for me personally but for the entire Felicity-Franklin schools community. This week we learned that schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. This brings much sadness for not only our seniors and their families, but to the many other students in grades K-11 and the FFMS staff. Despite seeing some smiling faces of our students as we do our Google Meets, it doesn't compare to the daily interactions and relationships that have been formed since our first day in August.
I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. We are all figuring things out together one day at a time. I have no doubt that we will come back better, stronger, and more united than ever. Thank you parents for also taking on this responsibility of teaching and learning within your household during this crisis within our world!
In the absence of school, we have grown to realize how much we all need each other and how much we mean to one another. I speak on behalf of the entire staff here at FFMS when I say, "We miss our students dearly!" The staff has expressed to me daily just how much they love and miss our students. We are all hurting and grieving the loss of this school year. Now more than ever we need to unite our hearts and our love for this community, be there for one another, lift each other up, and get through this together. Cardinal strong!
To our students...Please know that we continue to pray for your health and safety! If you ever need one of us, we are there for you! All you have to do is email or join Google Meet.
Online learning and food distribution will continue through May 22, 2020 and we will finish strong!
Thank you and have a great week!
Mrs. Hiler

Assignment Expectations
- Assignments will look different from class to class, however, a general guideline we are using is that each lesson is to be no more than a 15-30 minute lesson/activity per class.
- Keep in mind each student's completion time will vary based on multiple factors.
- Teachers will be assigning work and entering grades into the grade book as usual.
- Assignments will have completion dates and students are expected to be in communication with their teachers especially if they are having difficulty.
- Lessons will be graded at the teacher's discretion, just like a typical class.
- Students are expected to complete their assignments by the due dates. Make sure you communicate with your teachers if you don't think you can meet a deadline.
- Students and staff are also expected to be in contact with each other via Google Meet, Go guardian, Email, and or phone to discuss classwork and communicate issues.
- Teachers will respond to any questions/concerns you have within 24 hours of receiving your message.
- Teachers are available from 9-3 M-F to answer any of your questions.
Weekly Connection with Students and Families
Your family can expect to have personal contact with your child's teacher at least once a week. This may occur in the following formats:
- Video Chats via Google Meets
- Phone calls or text check-ins
- Emails or online chats with students
The more the students can communicate and interact with their teachers the better it is for everyone. By being able to do this it will help with motivation and feeling connected. Below are the times for the Google Meets for each grade level.
Google Meet Grade Level Times
6th Grade- Wednesday @2:00
7th Grade- Monday @ 12:00
8th Grade- Tuesday @2:00

PARENTS - WE ARE HERE FOR YOU
Parents - As difficult as it was for school staff members to hear the news, we know it was very hard for you as well to hear that school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. I want to acknowledge that we know you are being asked to take on additional roles in your own lives, and we have added assisting with online learning on top of that.
Our families are stressed because life is stressful. I am SO HAPPY with how many of you are actively engaging in your child's learning. Our amazing teachers are doing a fantastic job of putting together videos of learning, hosting online Google Meets, and also offering small group and individual meetings with your kids. Thank you for partnering with our teachers to help make these meeting happen, and most of all, for helping to educate your kids - our kids!
Please know we are here for you. As we explore this new way of learning, we appreciate your support and welcome your feedback. We are here for you. Please let us know what we can do to help make this new way of living easier and better for all of us.
THANK YOU, PARENTS, FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING TO SUPPORT YOUR STUDENTS AND YOUR SCHOOL!

Charge the Chromebooks!
Please make sure your child gets in the habit of charging their chrome books each evening. It is important that they come to school prepared and the chrome books are as important to class as bringing paper and pencils. They will need their computers to fully participate in instruction in most classes.
