NOTE FROM MRS. LOGAN
One of my favorite holiday songs is “Silent Night”, specifically the Stevie Nicks version. However, each time I listen to it I take a moment to giggle at the irony of the title. Not much is silent about nights in our house this time of the year. Holiday parties, music performances, holiday shopping and preparing for the upcoming holidays seem to dominate our not so “Silent Nights”.
Recently a fellow educator shared with me a great article titled 10 Routines That Will Strengthen a Parent-Child Relationship. Some important messages stood out to me that I am challenging myself to work towards this busy holiday season. As a parent I am given 900 weeks of childhood with each of my children before they may leave my home. The importance of me showing up during these 900 weeks, that I will never get back, has been highlighted for me. The article emphasizes the importance of hugs, listening, play and the pure power of slowing down. This Friday we will work with our students to help them to give the gift of presence this holiday season.
It is my goal, that through my own intentional efforts, the Logan House will be filled with more “Silent Nights” during this busy month of December!
