Ms. Erickson's Classroom Snippet
Take a Peek into our Week!
October 26th- 30th
Here is what we are learning and enjoying in our classroom this week...
Math: We will continue our measurement unit by practicing measuring with centimeters and meters. Students will be actively creating measurements tools to use as they measure various items. As they continue working with inches, centimeters, meters, and yards they will compare and discover the relation between all units of measurement. We will complete our week with measuring time.
Reading: We will be using our reading and writing skills in our PBL projects. We will busy creating our All About Books about our Round Rock Landmark.
Writing: This week we will be focused on writing the rough draft of our first product in our Landmark PBL. Each student will be writing an All About book (non-fiction book) that teaches the community about his/her wonderful Round Rock Landmark. We will be including the location, why it’s important, why we should visit, interesting facts, and important dates.
Sight Words: We are learning the following words this week: also, cold, five, going, hope, never, school, today. Please continue to work with your child to read, write, and spell these words with consistency.
Science & Social Studies: We will be studying landmarks in our community through the students PBL projects.
Pictures of Landmarks
Please take the pictures from your camera, computer or phone and download them to a USB flash drive/memory stick. Click on the underline word to see a picture of a USB flashdrive. Please label your child's flash drive with their first and last name. Then send it to school in a ziplock bag, in their planner (preferrably the front pocket of the pencil pouch for safe keeping. We will be using it for the next two weeks.
Also, if you have not already sent in the headphones for your child, this is a great time to do so. We will be watching different videos of our landmarks to assist in our research.
Thank you for providing your child with these additional items to ensure that their project is successful.
