Weaver Lake Family Newsletter
February 2023
Message from the Principal
Greetings Weaver Lake Wolfpack,
Happy New Year! I'm thrilled to say that 2023 has started off without us being in distance learning for any number of weeks. We did have one e-Learning day but we can do that! Coming back from winter break, teachers and students have been reviewing classroom rituals, routines and expectations. It's a great time to refresh and reset our schoolwide expectations. Please see the attached building matrix with expectations for each area that you can review and ask your students about!
We will start February with the PTO Read-a-thon Fundraiser, unveil Smartie the Wolf at an all school assembly, name MVPs for communicator and problem solver and end the month with a book fair and conferences!
As always, don't hesitate to contact any member of the staff if you have compliments, questions or need support! We are here in partnership with you!
With Warm Regards,
Lena Christiansen, Principal

Friday Lunch Sign Up for Parents
Fridays are a chance for parents to sign up to come eat with their child in the cafeteria. Space is limited and parents are encouraged to only sign up once a month.
Please sign up for the grade level that your student is in. This will be the time you will be joining them for lunch.
- Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Parents will be allowed to have lunch with their child(ren) every Friday. Limit two guests per child.
- Because there is limited space for guests, we ask that parents sign up for a maximum of one lunch per month. You may sign up on the same day for your children in different grades.
- Cost of the school lunch for parents is $5.00 (please bring exact change!). You can use your child's lunch account if they normally pay full price for lunch. Free/reduced lunch families will need to pay for their meal using cash. The school lunch menu can be found here: https://schools.mealviewer.com/school/OsseoISDElementarySchools
- Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled lunch time for your child(ren). If you are purchasing a school lunch for yourself, we ask that you go through the lunch line BEFORE students arrive.
- All parents are asked to be seated at a designated table. Your child(ren) will sit at that table with you after they have gone through the school lunch line (if needed).
- Parents joining their child(ren) for lunch are asked to clean up their area at the end of lunch.
- Please delete your reservation if you are unable to make it to allow for other parents to attend.

Update from Volunteer Coordinator
Greetings Weaver Lake Elementary Volunteers!
The activities around school are ramping up, and there are some upcoming opportunities you can help with!
The first is the 4th Annual Weaver Lake Read-a-Thon. This PTO fundraising event puts an emphasis on getting kids to read throughout the month of February and there are prizes that need to be distributed! This year, there is also an opportunity for a volunteer to read aloud to students in the school. If you have an interest in helping with either of these things, please let us know by signing up using the link below! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaa72eaafecf8-readathon1#/
The Read-a-Thon will be winding down just as the spring Scholastic Bookfair is winding up! Volunteers will be needed to help set up the fair, check students and families out as they purchase books from the fair, and help take everything down at the end of the fair. This multi-day event needs many hands to make it a success, so sign up today!

As spring approaches, the opportunities to help begin to increase. Be the first to hear about them by registering to volunteer! https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Nzg0OmVuLVVT
