Walt Disney's Childhood
Walter Elias Disney, also known as Walt Disney, was born on December 5, 1901. He was born in Chicago, Illinois but spent most of his childhood in Marceline, Missouri. He had four siblings and his family had very little money to spend. Disney attempted to enlist in Military Services in 1918, but was rejected due to the fact that he was sixteen (underage). Instead he went overseas to France joining the Red Cross.
Walt Disney's Struggles in His Career
Disney was constantly rejected for many things in his life. He was a high school dropout at 16, he was rejected when he wanted to join the army, and when he submitted cartoon drawings to magazines. The most ironic way of Disney being rejected was when he was fired from working with newspaper for "lacking imagination" and "Having no original ideas." After all of these failures Disney kept going, he founded a company called Iwerks-Disney but he couldn't even keep that company going. After that he went on with Laugh-O-Grams films which went bankrupt and at the age of 21 he left South Carolina with $40.

Disney's Success
After all of his failures that he already went through Disney finally started something successful. He founded the Disney Bros. Studio, where he came up with the cartoon idea for Mickey Mouse. Their film Steamboat Willie starring Mickey made Mickey the most popular cartoon character and won Disney his first Academy Award. Disney once said, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible," we can all learn a very important lesson from Disney. That you can achieve your dreams, no matter what struggles hold you back.
Disney Affects all of Us
Even if you haven't been to Disney World, you've most likely seen a Disney film. Walt Disney has brought so much happiness into the world without even being in this world himself. He started a legacy of entertainment that has evolved so much, that we have all learned to love.
