BOXES
We continued our study unit investigating different types of boxes. Our discussion was focused on things that we can do with a box; by simply using our imagination we can turn a plain boring box into something wonderful!
This book was filled with wonderful books about imaginative characters. First, we extended our creative discussion, reading the story “Not a Box”. A simple tale of a bunny who made incredible things out of a box. After the story, we talked about the different things we could create with our boxes from the “Box Collection”. Each student was given a piece of paper where they had to draw their ideas. We suggest that you ask your child what they want to create using their box. We also read "The Purple Crayon". Harold is an adorably curious four-year-old with his purple crayon, who has the power to create a world of his own simply by drawing it.
As the week has gone on, the children have been showing more and more interest in boxes, playing with them in different ways. Some used the boxes as cars, others used the boxes to build towers, and others used their imagination to make beds. We encourage you to find a large box around your home and help your child use their imagination to create something new. Pictures please!
Have a great weekend
