The Ancient Art
Papermaking is a very old art that has been used for thousands of years. The Chinese have a very special and reliable way of making paper.
How They Make It
Preparation
Hemp waste would be placed over a screen in a vat of water, and would be soaked until the Hemp was completely saturated.
Sifting
Once the hemp was saturated, the workers would sift the water until a thin layer of hemp was made.
Drying
Once the hemp layer dried partially, the workers would peel off the layer of hemp and let it dry fully.
Finishing and Printing
Once the paper was fully dried, it was ready to use! The Chinese would stamp, write and draw on this paper.
