Sixth Grade Newsletter

September 27, 2015

Dear Parents,

Don't forget that Picture Day is Wednesday, September 30. Order forms were sent home in Friday Folders.

We are continuing our study of non-fiction writing. This week, we will be reading articles to determine the point of view of the author. We will also talk about bias, and how to decide if a source is reliable.

Social Studies

Students are learning about foundations of geography. Homework is assigned each Monday and due on Thursday.

This week, students will start the week with a Unit 1 review and a Summative Assessment on Tuesday, September 29th. Students will then start our next unit over fraction & decimal computation. As a reminder, students are eligible to retake quizzes and tests if they have their homework completed.

Thank you so much to all of the parents that sent in supplies for our experiments!!!!

We are working on ecosystems and the different relationships within those ecosystems. The students received a vocabulary packet that we will slowly work away at as we study the various aspects within an ecosystem. We will define the words in class and add them into the flash card app when they get iPads up and running. When iPads start coming home, please remind your student(s) to review the vocabulary words. Thanks so much for all of your support.

We will celebrate Homecoming by wearing our Rayder gear on Friday.
