Keeping Up with Comm Arts
~ Novemeber 6, 2023 ~
Hello Comm Arts Family and Friends!
Dr. Baker would also like to thank you for the donations that were made on behalf of Nik Romano and his parents send their gratitude as well.
Last Friday night, several students were inducted into the National Honor Society, and we are so proud of them. And we are also thankful for the sponsors, Mr. Rosser and Ms. Barrera.
And towards the latter part of last week we were given metal detectors by the district, and we are currently planning the utilization of them. Once we get that situated, you will be communicated with in case you have any questions; the district is adding these as an extra layer of safety.
And happy Veteran’s Day on Friday to those who have served the nation and their families. Those who signed up for the breakfast event - we will see you soon!
College Fair
Seniors, please join us for Northside ISD’s annual College Fair on November 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Northside Activity Center located at 7001 Culebra Road.
The NISD College Night is an extraordinary event that provides students and parents with the opportunity to become more familiar with over 100 institutions of higher education from all over Texas and the nation. This interaction with representatives from various colleges and universities is informative and valuable as students gather information to make the very best choices for their future educational endeavors.
Campus Highlights
Las Monarcas
Spanish students learned about Las Monarcas (the Monarch butterfly) and their connection to Día de los Muertos. Their long migration to Mexico has then arriving at the same time of this holiday. Because of the timing, there is a belief that Las Monarcas carry the souls of loved ones to their waiting families and friends to celebrate on this special holiday. Then students followed instructions on how to make their own origami Monarca.
Día de los Muertos
Spanish students painted half of their faces for Día de los Muertos. This represents both life and death as part of our existence.
Guest Speaker
Daniel Saldivar, the founder/creative director at White Rhino VFX & Hush VFX and his team visited last Thursday to talk with our students. It was an awesome opportunity to meet people and building relationships.
