All Work and No Play....No Way!
Elementary students across CCS had an opportunity to have a little fun with an activity created by Aimee Bates and Sharon Drake, our Technology Integration Specialists. Inspired by an activity they had seen from a member of their Professional Learning Network (PLN) the two created a Build Your Own Turkey activity. They developed the activity in Google Slides as well as SMART Notebook to ensure that there was an accessible format for all users. A few students even had a chance to demonstrate for visitors from the Technology Department of Cullman County Schools. We've heard there might be a reindeer and a snowman appearing soon!
Savannah Wood, EES Library Media Specialist, shows off a finished product created with SMART Notebook.

CHS Broadcast Network Recognized for Elite Status
Our CHS Broadcast team was recently recognized by the Cullman City School Board for their selection as a National Federation of High Schools Elite Broadcast Team. Of the more than 50 broadcast networks in the state, they were the only one to receive this status. Good job team!

Feeling Blue
The Lady Bearcats recently sported blue socks during their game. The socks were to show their support for individuals with Type 1 diabetes. November 14th was World Diabetes Day and our Lady Cats did their part to help call attention to this important issue.

Let's Eat!
We had a great celebration of Thanksgiving with our families thanks to the wonderful meal prepared by our CNP. There were big smiles and full tummies at the end of the meal! Thanks to all of our families that came to be a part of this with our students.
WONDER-ful
EES 5th and 6th grade students had an exciting opportunity before Thanksgiving break. They attended a screening of the motion picture based on the book "Wonder".
Our students choose kind!!

Invalid Username and Password? Not Anymore!
Nothing says frustration like trying to get 20+ young students correctly logged in to Chromebooks and/or Google Classroom (or any number of other apps). A great deal of instructional time is lost trying to assist students in entering their username and password correctly. Thanks to Aimee Bates and Sharon Drake, our younger Chromebook users can simply scan a QR code (called a Clever Badge) to get logged in.
Note from the Technology Integration Department: Feedback from the pilot groups has been great. Work continues to make these Clever Badges available for all of our younger students across the system.
Investigative Learning
These 3rd grade students spent some time learning how water reacts on different surfaces. Being able to investigate engages students. This active learning allows them to explore a particular topic or problem. It involves higher order thinking and gives opportunity for dialogue.

Let's Pretend Hospital a Big Hit
Some of our students had the opportunity to participate in WSCC Nursing Program's Let's Pretend Hospital program. Students had many opportunities to learn something about how to be healthy, how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency like a fire, and what types of things they could encounter if they were to go to the hospital. Such a great program!
That's Your Opinion
We all have our opinions. Even our youngest students have strong opinions on some topics. Learning to articulate an opinion in spoken and written word becomes a powerful tool. Our students are learning those skills during the build-up for this year's Iron Bowl. Alabama or Auburn?
Our Clean Campus Recognized
CCPS received Honorable Mention in the Clean Campus division of the PALS program. Thanks to everyone who helps to make our campus a clean, safe and happy place!
