Navigating our Gale and ABC-Clio Databases
Students first stop in research is Google...it's where I go as well! The problem is the sheer number of results that are returned and the validity and reliability of those results. As another option, we do have a number of great databases. Even then though, students can come up with a huge amount of information to sift through.

- Within Gale, you can narrow your focus by searching within a given page on the database.
- Within ABC-Clio, you can easily see which topics are covered within each database with one quick scan.
Navigating Gale and ABC-Clio Databases at MRHS
Ever heard of Wonderopolis? Wonderopolis®, a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages. The sites posts (and tweets) a "Wonder of the Day". There are videos and text to go along with each topic, and the "wonder words" explain any new vocabulary (great for students that need that support)! Check it out...it's a great way to introduce other types of nonfiction into the classroom.
