Stepping Up To Success 8th Grade
Today was our 3rd annual Stepping Up to Success event for 8th graders. It was a successful day with many opportunities to meet with different career professionals and hear about their jobs and discover if that is something they might be interested in doing. Students were able to hear from high school club leaders and the Activities/Athletic Director to start looking for ways they can get involved at the high school level. In the afternoon, students had a chance to tour the high school, play a Breakout Session, and begin the process of their first Individual Career and Academic Plan (previously known as 4 year plan). It was a fun, interactive day full of beneficial information for our 8th graders as they start the transition process to high school.

News From The Art Room
Thank you parents for getting supplies for your student in a timely manner. I am so proud of these students already for being on the ball, and save a few who are still trying to round theirs up, most everyone has brought back their signed note, and supplies.
As a reminder for those who still don’t have supplies, below is what I have asked students to bring daily, in order to be prepared for class.
6th Grade should have #2 wooden pencils and at least one black fine point sharpie marker (standard Sharpie) and bring to class with them each day
7th and 8th Graders were sent home with a form to have their supplies here by Monday the 8th.
What I need for art
Art Class Kit
1 fine tip sharpie marker
1 ultra fine tip sharpie
1 pack of color pencils at least 12 different colors, more of you like.
1 pack of wooden pencils #2 (no mechanical!)
1 handheld pencil sharpener
1 pink eraser
One pencil pack to carry it all to class each day,
One pocket folder with three paper tabs to create notebooks/sketchbooks
Failure to bring these items each day counts as unprepared for art, and will result as a minor, three minors result in office referral.
All supplies must be here January 8th
Our objectives and assignments for the next couple of weeks.

Students are creating functional art with a twist. They are making lockers that open to creativity. They are allowed to add anything they want into their lockers, weather that be a door to another dimension, or simply a landscape scene. They are to have at least two sections in their locker with similar or completely different themes.
As always if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate in contacting me cchapman@fulton58.org
