Important LCPS Survey
PARENT SURVEY - SECOND SEMESTER
This week, LCPS will ask the parents/guardians of all students to complete a survey to register their choices for type of instruction (Distance or Hybrid) for their students in the second semester, which begins January 21.
The survey window will be open between November 11 and November 20 and conducted through ParentVue.
TOWN HALL
Mark your calendar - Rock Ridge High School will host a virtual Town Hall in 11/16 at 6:30pm with he purpose of assisting in making informed decisions regaridng this survey. Look for communication this Thursday for deatils and opportunities to post questions
Veteran's Day Recognition!
Veteran’s Day Recognition
We will be honoring veterans on our morning announcements this week. If you, or a family member, is a veteran and would like to be recognized, please email a picture of the honoree to michelle.menna@lcps.org with a short bio, including the name of the honoree, branch of the military, and anything else you would like to include by 5 pm on Tuesday.

Seniors: Last week counselors and teachers processed 1,652 transcript request and letters of recommendations to ensure your application packages were complete for the November deadlines. Please do not forget to thank your teachers and counselor. Please remember November and December have a number of Early Action/Early Decision Deadlines. Keep up the good work by getting your transcript request in on time. Below is a chart on when request so be turned in to be processed in time for the application deadline. Seniors- Know your college acceptance immediately!!!
11/11 & 11/20: Radford is hosting Virtual Admissions Review events in November. You will register for a time and meet 1-1 with an admissions representative. During your meeting you will receive an acceptance or deferral. There is limited capacity so sign up early. To be considered for Virtual Application Review:
- Participants should plan to submit their admissions application and required transcript(s) at least one week prior to their chosen Virtual Application Review date.
- All students will be reviewed test-optional and no test scores will be required.
- If offered admission during the Virtual Application Review, an admissions packet will be mailed to the students with additional details.

Sophomores & Juniors - Summer Residential Governors School: Applications are now open. Applications are due to Mrs. Barnes by 4:00 PM on 12/4 via email. She must have the application and supporting materials at that time. Here are a few notes:
- Do not worry about the principal’s signature. Your counselors will take care of that information.
- Do not worry about testing information. We know students have not been able to take the PSAT this year. We are working through this.
- If you did an audition and have advanced, you need to complete the application and supporting materials by this same deadline.
- Your recommenders must send their evaluation form and LOR directly to Mrs. Barnes. (You should not have access to this information.)

Yearbook - Important Information!

With school all online we need your help! The yearbook would love pictures from you to use this year in the book, we are looking for pictures of the following:
- Have a cool set up for online learning? Take a picture of yourself at your workspace, or the workspace itself
- What does your typical day look like?
- How are you celebrating your birthday in quarantine?
- Did you dress up for Halloween?
- Are you volunteering in the community?
- Have you started any new hobbies or projects?
- Have you been going hiking or visiting local spots?
- Have you been ordering a lot of take out?
- Anything else!

RRHS EL Team!
Rock Ridge HS EL APP (Assessment Participation Plan) Committee has reviewed parents'/students' and teachers' input regarding the assessment participation level and accommodations for the EL students for the 2020-21 school year. All the EL APPs and EL Addendums have been finalized and updated in Phoenix and reflect students' needs and choices. Teachers and other stakeholders have been notified. The accommodations chosen/agreed upon by the students and teachers will be implemented during classroom instruction and assessment. Parents are encouraged to discuss the topic with their students and, if needed, to contact RR EL Department Chair (Margareta.Cernev@lcps.org) for further clarification or to obtain a personal copy of the document.
