LnHS Update 11.3.23
Full of student highlights!
Dear Lancaster High School Eagle Families
We are mid-way through what is a challenging time during Semester 1... as October is historically a challenging month as it is so long, but October is behind us and we have a day off and a week break on the horizon. This half of the semester can go very fast for our Eagles, so make sure you are staying on top of your work, checking grades, attending tutoring when needed (see below), and taking time to enjoy activities that your school offers.
We have a few student highlights below to share, so check out each section below. Our Eagles are soaring in many areas and it is exciting to witness!

Yearbook and Senior Pics
Hello Senior parents!
I have a few announcements for you from the Yearbook staff and two attachments. Please reach out directly to jgriffey@avhsd.org if you have any questions.
1.) Senior portraits are due to be booked by October 31st. Though that date has passed, if you have not done so yet DO NOT HESITATE and call O'Conner today. I have attached photo options for you, and remember the sitting fee for just the senior portrait to be included in the yearbook is $18. Please contact O'Connor photography today to book! Since this question comes up a lot: they will automatically be sent to me.
2.) The Yearbook is officially on sale at $65 (plus tax)! The price will go up to $75 11/1 and then again to $85 in January, so be sure to lock in the lowest price of the year today! You can order through Jostens, from our student store or directly from Ms. Mendoza in accounting in-person or via telephone. You must order through Jostens if you want personalizations, icons or any other extras.
3.) Senior recognition ads are officially for sale as well through Jostens. I have attached instructions. The deadline for senior ad purchases is 12/22. Don't miss out on honoring your child's accomplishments!
Please reach out if you have any questions at jgriffey@avhsd.org. The yearbook staff has already gotten some terrific photos and we have a lot of Media Academy students in the class this year, so I feel confident this will be the best LNHS yearbook yet.

Eagle Marching Band
The Eagle Marching Band went to compete in our second competition of the season and came home with big wins. We took 1st by a solid margin in both Band and Percussion and saw a very significant score increase from our first competition a few weeks ago. Our Eagles posted the second-highest score in Southern California for their division for the weekend as well. If you have been at a football game you may have seen the piece our team has been working to perfect. It quickly stood out as entertaining and challenging and we look forward to our team bringing this piece to the College of the Canyons in Valencia this weekend. Go, Eagles!
Eagle Robotics - Team 399
AFJROTC Shines!
Congratulations to our AFJROTC team and the cadet corps for a job well done! The cadets were very
impressive and displayed exemplary pride in their unit.
Be REAL - Students of the Month
Congratulations to Melvin Tejada for being selected for this week's Be REAL students of the week. Melvin turned in cash that he found, which we were then able to get to the owner. Thank ou for being respectful, Melvin! In addition, Deasia Farrell was recognized for continued growth and understanding about how her behaviors can have a positive effect on campus. Great job being accountable, Deasia!
Also pictured is at small group that our PBIS team is very proud of this week as this group was actively engaged in the work their small group was doing.
We look for our Eagles to: BE Respectful Engaged Accountable Leaders

At-School Live Tutoring
VIRTUAL *LIVE* Tutoring (Virtual Tutoring with a Live Person)
Did you know that your student has LIVE 24 HOUR FREE tutoring available in your student's PowerSchool? Our district has partnered with Princeton Review to provide every student with this amazing service. Your student can be connected with a tutor in any subject any time of the day, for FREE. These are not videos, they are live, vetted, tutors. Think of Uber, but for tutoring! The tutors will even edit papers for your student with less than a 24 hour turn-a-round period.
The easiest way to access this free, live, virtual tutoring, is to have your student log into google with their school account, log into Power School, look on the left side of the screen and find the live tutor button, and follow the easy to follow directions from there. If you need assistance, CLICK HERE or the button below for a tutorial.
