Big picture

December 10, 2020

Dear Staff,

Due to the increasing level of community spread in Framingham and the increasing challenges and wait time in obtaining COVID PCR testing, we are pleased to inform you that the district will be providing voluntary and free COVID-19 PCR testing for our in-person staff during December 2020. The start date will be announced early next week.

The district will evaluate the data gathered during this pilot program and develop a plan for COVID testing for the coming months. A schedule of weekly testing will be provided to each school. Please consult with your building based administrator or COVID lead as to the testing schedule in your school.

The COVID-19 PCR tests will be administered by highly trained technicians; test results will be available to you within 24-48 hours. We invite all in-person staff who work in the schools on a regular daily basis to take advantage of COVID testing during this pilot period.

Testing is one of a number of important mitigating measures necessary to prevent the spread of the virus in our schools. Please continue to take these important steps to protect yourself and prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wear a mask/face covering at all times when outside of your home

  • Limit interactions with others

  • Maintain physical distance of 6 ft

  • Practice frequent hand washing/hand sanitizing

  • Monitor yourself and your family for COVID-19 symptoms daily:

    • Fever of 100.0°F (37.7C) or higher, chills, or shaking chills

    • Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)

    • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

    • New loss of taste or smell

    • Sore throat

    • Headache when in combination with other symptoms

    • Muscle aches or body aches

    • Nausea, or vomiting, or diarrhea

    • Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms

    • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms

    • Stay home when you are not feeling well

  • Follow the Governor’s Travel Order during the upcoming holiday season

If you or your family member(s) experience any of the symptoms above, are not feeling well, or are on quarantine, PLEASE DO NOT GO INTO YOUR SCHOOL FOR TESTING. Contact your healthcare provider and get a COVID-19 test at a local Stop the Spread testing site.

We look forward to implementing this pilot COVID-19 testing program. Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Human Resources with any questions or concerns.
