Organization Spotlight - Environment America

Environment America is a federation of state-based citizen-funded environmental advocacy organizations. They research the challenges confronting our environment and educate the public about what’s at stake. Through our research reports, news conferences, interviews with reporters, op-ed pieces, letters to the editor and more, we raise awareness of environmental issues and promote sensible solutions. Alumni Spotlight - Chris Kontos

Christopher D. Kontos, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology. Dr. Kontos has been affiliated with the Duke University Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) in various capacities since 2003 and has served as Director of the program since 2009. Dr. Kontos received his B.S. (1984) and M.A. (1985) in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary and his M.D. from the

Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989. He was awarded a career development award from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and joined the faculty in Cardiology at Duke in 1997, where he has spent his career investigating the molecular mechanisms responsible for vascular growth and remodeling in response to physiological and pathological stimuli.
