Superintendent Community Update
March 12, 2021
Dear JUHSD Families,
Every week brings better news about COVID-19. At this point, 79% of our staff have received their first vaccination, or been fully vaccinated (a few have opted out). On that great note, here are our weekly updates:
Celebrating JUHSD’s Frontline Staff: When we stopped working on March 15, our JUHSD Frontline Staff continued providing services in-person. This week, I want to share the first video in a series of videos to celebrate our Frontline Staff.
Instructional Model Selection Form: We continue to work diligently with our union, our Return to School Committee, and our Board of Trustees to determine a date to begin a gradual return to campus. In preparation, we are asking all parents to select the instructional model for their child in ParentVue by 4pm on March 19, 2021. Please log in to your ParentVue account for additional information. If you are unable to access your account, please email the JUHSD IT department at helpdesk@jeffersonunion.net.
3. Return to Campus Plans in Progress:
Return to Campus Plan for Small Groups: on December 2, 2020, the Board of Trustees approved a plan to return when San Mateo and San Francisco Counties are in the Yellow Tier. We are working with our union, AFT 1481 to amend this plan so that small groups of students can return to campus sooner.
Return to Campus Plan for Staff: We continue to work with our union, our Return to School Committee, and our Board of Trustees to develop this MOU.
Return to Campus Plan for Hybrid Instruction: Associate Superintendent Kareen Baca will present a draft plan for hybrid instruction to the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 16 at the regularly scheduled Board meeting. You can view the meeting, which begins at 7pm, at this link. The Board agenda is available online here. Public comment requests can be submitted at this link.
4. Rental Assistance for Daly City Families: The Daly City Community Service Center (DCCSC) is offering a workshop for families who have fallen behind in rent payments as a result of COVID-19. During the workshop, families will receive assistance in filling out an application for rental income assistance. Please view the flyer at this link to learn more.
5. Questions or Comments on Return to Campus: Please use this form to submit questions or feedback about Return to Campus.
Thank you for your continued support as we move towards a return to campus. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Toni Presta
Superintendent
