DISTRICT NEWSLETTER - NOVEMBER 2023
A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Decatur Township families,
I hope this letter finds you well, while enjoying the close of a beautiful fall season. The month of November is a busy and productive time in our schools. We encourage you to check in on your child’s grades through Family Skyward Access and keep in close communication with your child’s teacher(s) as we approach the midterm of the second quarter.
We are Decatur Proud to give a shout-out to the Decatur Central High School Student Council for their Safe Halloween event last week. Over 500 families participated, and we are grateful to the staff members and student volunteers for organizing this community event that was enjoyed by so many. Safe Halloween is an excellent example of our mission to be Student Invested, Community Connected.
Please mark your calendars for these important dates and events as you plan for November:
Next Tuesday, November 7th, will be an eLearning day. Students will complete assignments through Canvas from home to count as attendance for this day. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions, or students can contact teachers through Canvas messages.
We look forward to celebrating our Veterans on Friday, November 10th, with programs at many of our schools. We hope you can attend and invite Veterans you may know. We are thankful for all Veterans and your service to our country!
November 6th-10th is National School Psychology Week. Our school psychologists are valuable members of our school community and do much to help our students to thrive! Thank you School Psychologists!
We hope you will also join us for the Decatur Central High School Theatre Department’s presentation of “Freaky Friday, the Musical,” November 17-19th. See the link below to purchase tickets to enjoy this performance from our talented students!
In closing, Thanksgiving Break is scheduled Wednesday-Friday, November 22nd-24th. We hope you will enjoy this special time of thanks with your friends and family. In Decatur Township, we are thankful for all of our students, staff members, families, and community members!
Together we are Decatur Proud!
