Offerings for the week of April 29
Extending chaplain chats and worship through the end of May!
This is definitely not the finals week that I'm used to. I am so used to sitting in my office and waiting for so many of you to stop by to update me on where you are in your to-do lists, or to say goodbye for the year after you complete your final tests and assignments. It's strange for me, and I can't imagine how strange it must be for all of you as well. I hadn't realized for myself how much I depended on those brief drop-ins and goodbye hugs so provide my own closure on another academic year.
And for our seniors, I knew I'd have opportunities during senior week to see you: at the senior retreat, at the Go Light Your World ceremony of gratitude, at commencement. I hope that I will see you at commencement in July. And if you haven't signed up for the senior retreat yet, there is still time. Contact me for details. But instead of those relied upon rights of passage, rituals of saying goodbye, the academic year ends quietly, with no pomp and circumstance.
Because we don't get the opportunity to celebrate as a community and to say goodbye as a community, and because so many of you have echoed one another in a desire to maintain the connection in a somewhat disconnected time...I've decided to extend chaplain chats and worship through the end of May for sure, with the possibility of it going longer depending on what's happening in the world. I'll also be available for one-on-ones as normal through the end of May, and then with more limited availability starting June 1.
I'm grateful for all of you. And I'm proud of how you have endured a difficult semester. I pray that as you complete those final papers, tests, and assignments that you know that you are loved and you are not alone. And to the seniors: congratulations on all of your hard work. you have accomplished something extraordinary and deserving of celebration. I look forward to celebrating with you in person and getting some legit goodbye hugs.
Blessings,
Nadia
