Background
Yves Saint Laurent was born in 1935 on august 1st in Oran, France. He had two older sisters that he designed dressers for and at the age of 18 he moved to pair and enrolled in Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. He was later introduced there to editor of French Vogue, Christian Dior.
What made him famous
While in school he won the International Wool Secretariat contest for his cocktail dress design in 1954. This then started his career, after Christian Dior passed away Yves Saint Laurent landed the job of Haute Couture designer in 1957.

His style is mostly ready to wear and very glamorous.

1962 was his depute where he launched his own line "YSL" and is most famous for the "le smoking" tuxedo jacket.
