Glenealy School Newsletter
29th November 2017
Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
Remember it’s Sports day at Kowloon Cricket Club this Friday!
Don’t forget to dress up in your child’s house colours! See you there!
Wearing our uniform with pride
It’s getting colder so please ensure your child wears the correct school uniform. As we have shared before, it is fine for the students to blend their old uniform with the new. Please ensure underwear is not seen under blouses/shirts and that only Glenealy uniform items e.g. jerseys, coverups and jackets are worn rather than miscellaneous non-uniform articles of clothing. Students will be asked not to wear these items. Please refer to the PTA section of the previous newsletter for more details about how to purchase the new winter items.
Annual Report 2016/17
Please click on this link to read the annual report written by school staff and School Council members which highlight significant aspects, celebrations and events of the 2016/17 academic year.
Here’s the reading for this week which reinforces our learning and well-being philosophies. Following on from last week where I talked about students needing more sleep, here is an interesting link all about Sleep, Dreams & Nightmares
I hope you enjoyed the photos at the start of this newsletter. Lots of engaging learning experiences have taken place inside and outside of the classroom over the last week. Year 5 experienced their 3 day, 2 night camping excursion in Pui O Lantau which formed memories of a life time. Thanks to Ms Thompson for all the organisation and to the staff who attended the camp.
The Year 4 and 6 students have been involved in hands on science investigations and experiments as part of a link with Island School Science teachers.
Wearing lab jackets, goggles and working in a science lab has been a really great learning experience for our students and has helped lift the profile of science within their current units of inquiry.
Regards
Brenda

Year 3 Bake Sale – A Great Success!

Winter clothing appeal – thanks for your support
Thank you to everyone who donated to our ‘fast flash’ appeal for warm, winter clothing last week. Four large cartons of 2nd Hand Winter Uniform and an additional four, large stripy bags of warm, casual clothing are now on their way to the people of Bangladesh – a great donation from the small school with the big heart!
