From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
Today marks the first day of September which means we made it through August! The students have been working hard over the last two full weeks of school and they, along with the teachers, have earned the extra day off this weekend. I hope everyone is able to relax a little this holiday weekend and spend some time with family and friends in a safe manner.
We have been getting multiple questions about a couple of items, so I want to clear up any confusion on these issues:
When to keep a child home and when a doctor should be consulted. We are following the guidelines given to us by our Hamilton County contact which include: if a student or staff member has one symptom from category 1 (cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell or taste) or two symptoms from category 2 (fever, chills, body aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion/runny nose), the student should not attend school or return until they have been seen by a physician. I completely understand that these are common symptoms around this time of year; however, we want to be overly cautious in order to prevent any potential spread in our building.
Masking - If it is the expectation that your child will be wearing a mask while at school, please put this in writing to all of his/her teachers. At this point, we are still allowing families to decide if they want their child(ren) to wear masks while at school; however, wearing a mask could stop your child from missing school due to an exposure if they are properly wearing it throughout the day.
SafeParish - The first SafeParish Training will be sent out within the next week. Please be on the lookout for this email. This training will be different from the weekly emails that are sent each Tuesday. In order to be SafeParish compliant and eligible to volunteer in our building or for sports teams, you must be current on all SafeParish training. These trainings will be released quarterly.
VIP parking spot - Please remember that the only person who is allowed to enter the parking lot using the bus entrance at the end of the day is the St. John’s Spectacular VIP parking spot winner. This auction item allows one family to park in the VIP spot during PM pickup for a year. If you would like more information on how you could win this amazing prize for future years, check out the information below.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me at cweinheimer@stjohnsdrschool.org or call the office at 513-385-7970.
Hope you have a great rest of your week!

As a final project for lab safety, eighth graders created ABC books about safety, wrote and performed skits and rap songs, and created lab safety games. They had a great time creating and presenting their projects, and demonstrating their knowledge of lab safety.
