DMS Family Weekly Update

10-7-19

Conductor Corner

Hello DMS Families!

We had a wonderful week this past week packed with behavior celebrations and an 8th grade field trip to Base Camp. I enjoyed spending time with students at our pancake breakfast who had no missing work. Thank you to all the students who had their work turned in on time and all the adults who came together to make this award a success. I appreciated the help from our Parents are Partners volunteers. The kids loved it!

Each marking period, students are involved in a community connection project. Even though our students are still in middle school, they are capable of making change. For the first marking period, students were challenged with finding something in the school they wanted to improve as a class. They will be presenting what their class did for this challenge during our Morning Meetings this week. I am seeing positive change throughout the school because of the student's ideas and work on this project. As we continue to connect with students, the data is clear that we are reaching more students this year through our behavior interventions. I am very proud of the students and staff here at DMS.

We have parent teacher conferences this week! Please stop by on Monday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM and/or Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM to meet with your child's teachers. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

There will be a link to a parent perception survey on the DMS website starting tomorrow. Please fill out this survey as it is very beneficial in making changes to the way we operate at DMS and it also lets us know the areas we are doing well in from a parent perspective. There will be Chromebooks available at Parent/Teacher Conferences to fill out the survey as well. Your input is extremely important.

Thank you and have a great Railroader week!

Student and Staff Member of the Week

"Kyle works very hard in my ELA class. He is always willing to ask and answer questions. He follows directions and works to get the others in class to do the same. He is also respectful and considerate of others. It is a true joy to have Kyle in my classroom." -Mrs. Collins

Staff Member: Mrs. Collins

Mrs. Collins is always looking for ways to connect with students and she sees the very best in each one. She is creative in her teaching techniques and takes the time to think about what students need to be successful. We are thankful for Mrs. Collins.
