Welcome to RVCS!
Hello! My name is Elyssa Tang. I am excited to join the Rock Valley Christian School community and teach 7th/8th grade Language Arts! I am originally from Malaysia where the rest of my family is – my parents, grandmother, older brother, younger brother, and cat! I moved to Iowa for college and hope to graduate this May with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Teaching with an Endorsement in Teaching English as a Second Language from Northwestern College. Having been blessed by many who have walked alongside me in my faith – my parents, church members, Christian teachers, and ministry workers – I wanted to bless the youth in the same way. Hence, I saw teaching as an opportunity to walk alongside students. What a blessing it is for me to not only be an educator, but also a Christian educator at RVCS! I see Christian education as an opportunity for discipleship – helping students follow Christ – and I believe they will also help me follow Christ. My favorite part about teaching is building relationships with students and seeing them love others well. During my free time, I love hanging out with friends and family as well as playing the piano. I attend New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Orange City. My favorite Bible verses are Luke 10:38-42, the story about Mary and Martha. I pray that all of us are able to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to Him every day.
