Second Steps Social Skill Curriculum Week 5!
Kindergarten and First Grade: Being Assertive - Being assertive involves using an assertive posture (face the person, head up and shoulders back) and tone of voice (calm, firm voice; respectful words). Assertive communication is the best way to ask for help.
Second Grade: Identifying Feelings - Clues in faces, bodies, and situations help you notice and understand how people are feeling. Everyone feels a wide variety of emotions. Some feelings are comfortable, and others are uncomfortable.
Third Grade: Identifying Feelings - Clues in faces, bodies, and situations help you notice and understand how people are feeling. People can have different feelings about the same situation. All feelings are natural.
Fourth Grade: Understanding Complex Feelings - It is possible to have more than one feeling at the same time. Being able to understand that others might have complex feelings is an important part of empathy.
Fifth Grade: Taking Others' Perspectives - Others may have different perspectives. Being able to recognize someone else's perspective helps you get along with others.
**Reinforce, recognize with specific positive feedback frequently and in the moment.

Not sure what report to look at in iReady?
The Report Selector Tool will show you the following….
What to look at before and after giving the Diagnostic
What reports to be looking at during online instruction for students that have seats
What to look at after giving the Standards Mastery assessment which is your ELA end of unit test. Please let me know at least 4 days in advance of when you need to take this test. I will need to have Dawn go in and assign that test.
I would love to come look at reports to help inform student instruction. Please sign up for a time that I can come look at data with you so that we can brainstorm some strategies/interventions together. Don’t forget to click on the tabs at the bottom to go to future weeks.

Dress comfortably, ready to learn and work on MATH!
Bagels, juice, and milk will be provided by Concord Baptist Church. Teri and I will also bring donuts from Schulte's (based on the breakfast menu, dress comfortably sounds like it needs to involve pants that stretch!)!

8:30 AM - 10:00 AM - Kindergarten and First Grade will work with consultant in library.
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM - Grades Third, Fourth, and Fifth (Second is more than welcome too!) will work with Kaitie Bax in her room. She will be sharing some helpful tips she learned from her previous district that utilized GoMath!
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Second and Third Grades will work with consultant in library.
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM - Lunch on your own and the consultant will be available for individual questions/help.
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM - Fourth and Fifth Grades will work with consultant in library.
2:30 PM - 3:15 PM - Wrap up, final questions, reflections
3:30 PM - Staff dismissed
Expectations for when you are not with the consultant.....
You may work on ANY of the following items or combination of items, BUT THE FOCUS HAS TO BE ON MATH! (This is your day to concentrate on math).
*Review curriculum pacing guide looking at upcoming standards - develop a common understanding of what students are to know/do
*Review lessons to match standards - decide if GoMath! lessons will be sufficient or will you need to look for additional resources - Remember that we must follow the priority standards that are outlined in our curriculum and address each of those - if GoMath! does not cover it - we must find additional resources to do so.
*Review end of unit assessments - decide which questions correlate with priority standards, decide how many points questions will be worth/how it will be graded, plan for pre-tests by creating/finding just the questions that correlate with the priority standards
*Review current learning/assessments for planning next steps; interventions; reteaching, etc.
