Mr. Goetz's Corner

Dear Families of Deerfield,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Curriculum Night last night! It was a great opportunity to connect our Deerfield families with our awesome staff and spend some time reviewing our new 'online' environment. Deerfield is lucky to have such amazing family support and it is one of the reasons Deerfield is so great

We were able to distribute supplies today to our Deerfield families. Thank you to the families that were able to stop in and pick them up. If you were not able to come to the school today, please contact us to make arrangements for picking up your student's supplies.

Thank you for your continued patience during this time of new challenges. We so appreciate your flexibility while we all learn these new processes together.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mr. Goetz

In 2018 Deerfield adopted the Positivity Project, a program based on 24 positive character strengths from positive psychology research. At that time the motto and hashtag of P2 was #OtherPeopleMatter. Here at Deerfield, we recognize that recent events and social unrest throughout our country places the #OtherPeopleMatter motto in a different light that could be perceived to be in contrast to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. The Positivity Project realized this as well and is now utilizing different hashtags. We will be removing any banners or posters that have the hashtag #OtherPeopleMatter on it and we will be using the hashtags #OtherPeopleMindset and #PositivityInAction.

Positivity Project Weekly Theme: Other People Matter

This week's theme is Other People Mindset. This includes:

1. Identifying and appreciating the good in others

2. Knowing my words and actions affect others

3. Supporting others when they struggle

4. Cheering others' successes

5. Being present and giving other my attention
