Early Childhood has begun implementing their new Opening the World of Learning (O.W.L.) curriculum, and continue to modify and adjust their practice to accommodate ROCORI's youngest learners.
Elementary Buildings are in full force implementing Daily 5/Cafe models into their LbD curriculum. An article was shared discussing small group reading that really hits the fundamental principles for a successful guided reading program. Sadlier - identified on their website as "The Perfect Companion to any Core ELA Program" - was implemented as a supplemental program to help foster students' higher-order thinking skills.
Secondary School has been focusing on implementing new enrichment programs like Naviance, connecting with community businesses to develop an academy-type atmosphere at the high school, reorganizing EL and support staff, and honing in on RtI initiatives.
Spartan Day of Champions
This was a great event to honor athletes that compete in Special Olympics. Over 100 Rocori Students participate in this great event.
Building Stamina for Daily 5's "Read To Self"
Daily 5 can be a great way to individualize learning for students. Conferring with them as they spend more time-on-text by using Close Reading strategies empowers the reader to delve further into complex concepts.
Elementary schools participated in Fire Safety Week by welcoming, or visiting, their local fire station. Students were reminded about fire safety precautions.
