This week in review...
Happy Spirit Week & 125th day of school. Today we celebrated the 125th day of school with a Churro Party for all students with proficient attendance. Tomorrow is NEON Day, Thursday is CRAZY HAIR Day & Friday is LUCKY GREEN Day. Happy Saint Patrick's Day this Friday!
Thank you to all families who joined us for student led conferences. It was a great opportunity to discuss with students and teachers progress since the beginning of the school year and review student work.
This week we will host TWO Coffees with the Principal. Thursday's Coffee with the Principal will discuss the possible SEIU work stoppage and its potential impact on our school community. On Friday, we will celebrate women's history month. Both will take place at 8:15 a.m. in the parent center.
This weekend, we are looking for parent volunteers to support some cleaning & greening projects here on campus! If you are interested in volunteering with us, please sign up in the volunteer section of this newsletter below.
Finally, we are hosting our PTSA elections on March 24th! PTSA is looking for experienced fundraisers to support and run the PTSA organization for Laurel CACT. Save the date & time. The meeting will take place on Zoom at 5 p.m. on 3/24 Meeting ID: 763 1322 3009Passcode: q2PCQW

Student Led Clubs
Students are encouraged to start their own lunch clubs to explore their interests and build community across Laurel Cinematic Arts Magnet. Some examples of past and current clubs include: Art, Cubing, Gardening, Rainbow/GSA, Gaming Clubs Meet 1-2x/wk
Update from our Library - Ms. George & Ms. Vargas
On Monday, March 13th, K and 1st graders joined a virtual talk with journalist, author and screenwriter Keah Brown. She will be discussing her book Sam’s Super Seats. You can find the purchase link here.
In addition, on Wednesday, March 22nd, 3rd graders will be Zooming into a virtual talk with New York Times Bestselling author Nic Stone. She will be discussing her newest middle grade chapter book, Fast Pitch. You can find the purchase link here.

School-wide Daily Attendance Goals
We are celebrated the 125th day of school this today with a churro party for all students with Proficient Attendance. We are also launching attendance MARCH MADNESS begins this week!
For March Attendance Madness, brackets are posted next to Room 8 & upstairs. The classroom with the highest attendance during March Madness March 13-March 30 will win a pizza party!
Remember to strive for proficient attendance this school year!

I would like to invite everyone to participate in this election and if anyone wants to be nominated please contact us with your name and position that you would like to hold. The positions that will be nominated for are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, Historian, and Parliamentarian.
