What we're learning this week...

Phonics: Digraphs sh, ch, th, wh

Book: The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats

Reading Strategies: Visualizing, making an inference, retelling the story, making a connection, writing our opinion

Math: 2D and 3D shapes, number handwriting practice, fluency of addition and subtraction within 5, how to sort objects into groups based on different attributes

Writing: Writing our opinions, letter formation (handwriting practice)

Social Studies: Understanding past, present, future (timelines), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Science: Properties

Religion: God Chooses Mary, God the Father Gives Us Jesus

Social Skill: Following directions
Virtue: Celebration

Social and Emotional Learning: understanding stereotypes about objects, activities, and roles: children discuss how everyone can make choices and that toys, activities, and roles can be for everyone, and practice a way to respond to stereotypes

Epiphany Mass

Our Epiphany Mass is being postponed for a future date. I will let you know as soon as I find out the new date. If your child has a reading, please continue to practice this!! I will be checking this next week.

Coat Drive

Our third grade class is hosting a coat drive and will be donating all winter coats to the Catholic charity that helps migrants. Please donate coats by Thursday, January 13th. Thanks!
