A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Welcome to March Madness!

It's not only the basketball playoffs we look forward to but also standardized testing for grades 2-6. We begin our testing next week with IREAD for grades 2 and 3. Please see more information below about the IREAD-3 test.

Spring Pictures are on the 7th. Only students that have paid online or return a form will have their picture taken. Yearbooks are still on sale. Please see the link below.

K-Kids Penny Wars will run March 13th-17th. This is a fun competition to raise money for a local non-profit. We will be collecting pennies for your child's class but you may also bring in quarters to deduct from another teacher's class. Top winners in grades K-2 and 3-6 will earn a pizza party. We will also have March Madness spirit week to kick off the basketball playoffs.

Fayette Central is Out of this World- math/science family night is March 23rd from 5:00-6:30. We invite you and your family out for a free dinner and lots of activities based around space. Kona Ice will also be here to provide every FCE student with a free Kona. They will also be open for you to purchase additional Kona's if needed.

Our final learning targets for the year are posted below. You may also access them here. We are closing our school year, very quickly. Please make sure you stay up to date with Powerschool for your child's grades. Our attendance is improving but we are still not at the 95% goal. This semester we had a few new changes. Attendance letters are populated if your child has 7 or 10 unexcused absences. We are also targeting tardies. If your child is not at school, a new automated message will be calling you. Please remember to call the attendance line if your child will be absent. Our teachers are not able to code absences in Powerschool and our office keeps our records up to date. Thank you for your attention to this important detail.

My goal is to be as transparent as possible as your leader. If there is anything we can do better, please let me know. You can always message me on Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. I am also available by email and phone. I will return your communication within 24 hours.
