LEP Accommodations

Teachers, please provide us input

Guide to help understand LEP testing accommodations:

  • LEP students whom have less than three years in the country or score limited English proficiency may be eligible for special tests (STAAR L).

  • Special education or 504-coded students whom take STAAR A may have accommodations already built into their tests and are outlined in their IEP or 504 Plan.

  • LEP students whom use classroom accommodations such as extra time or dictionary (Spanish/English) regularly may receive testing accommodations.

  • Monitored or exited students (non-lep) students do not receive any accommodations.

  • Teachers who are not currently using accommodations with their LEP students may not offer them testing accommodations.
